  1. Not sure about Nismo and DC but I have seen other makes advertise their rear "mufflers". Out of curiosity does anyone know how much the stock rear backbox is complete with the dual tail pipes and I assume there is no difference in the rear tailpipes of the 2005 model compared to the 2006 or new 2007 model? Thanks for any info.
  2. Thanks for all the replies so looks like I'll be painting it. I did have a look around for stickers as suggested but can't find any places that do this, not for the stock gear knob.
  3. Hi I'm picking up my new 350z next weekend and one thing I want to sort out is the stock gearknob (the silver patch on the top of it where the gear shift pattern has flaked a bit). I don't really want to change the stock gear knob or buy a new one at £100 only for it to start flaking again as this appears to be a common issue - certainly was on all the cars I looked at and all under 40k miles. I forgot to look in detail but is the gear shift pattern indented, ie etched into the top of the knob? If it is I think I will simply mask off the leather which is absolutely fine and paint the small silver patch with some silver water proof paint. If it's indented I should still be able to see the gear shift pattern underneath after painting it. Thanks for any help. Matt
  4. Bidding ended for the item unfortunately. Does your Alpine head unit connect to the Bose system which is at the back of the head unit?
  5. About to pick up my new 350z next weekend and Admiral were by far the cheapest quote for my details. I'm currently with A Flux on my current car and are very cheap for modified cars. I paid A Flux with one annual payment for 12 months and have just under 6 months left on my insurance which I'm about to cancel when I move to my 350. Do A Flux give a refund on the un-used months because I paid for a full 12 months?
  6. Name and shame is the best policy so we can best avoid these kinds of companies! Or at least until they get their act together and treat us properly. Glad you eventually got it resolved.. a hassle though by the sounds of it.
  7. Ahh so a BT bluetooth adapter is what you need - does it matter what type of phone you have as long as it has bluetooth and is this cheaper than the Nissan adapter? Also, I am thinking of getting an integrated after market sat nav fitted with bluetooth on it - to those of you with bluetooth sat navs already will I still need a bluetooth adapter to get my phone handsfree? Thanks for any info.
  8. I have a bluetooth phone and I'm positive the dealer told me I could have it all handsfree using the bluetooth in the car and I could control the volume with the volume buttons on the steering wheel. DO I need a "bluetooth adapter" in the phone cradle area where the phone would sit? I am picking up my new 350z next weekend which is a 2005 GT model (it does not have sat nav but not sure if this makes a difference) but only found out today on this forum that it must come with a bluetooth adapter and that this must come with the car otherwise the phone will not work handsfree and nor will the volume buttons on the steering wheel work. As I didn't know this I have no idea if the car comes with the bluetooth adapter - is it a separate part and does it plug into the phone and what does it look like roughly? I've done a search for this but can't find any specific info. Is there any info on how this will work and what I need to do? Ie do I simply activate the bluetooth on my phone and then what do I do in the 350 so they can pair up? Thanks for any help.
  9. Looks very nice Nurrish - but a bit beyond me for diy!
  10. Thanks Nurrish - I'll check out the thread. Did you have it fitted or was it there when you bought the car?
  11. Cheers Martin. Looks interesting. Does your Pioneer still allow you to control the volume using the buttons on the steering wheel and does it have bluetooth connectivity? If you can find out how much it was and how much to get fitted I'd be interested to know more. Also, separate question - I have a bluetooth phone and I'm positive the dealer told me I could have it all handsfree using bluetooth and I could control the volume with the volume buttons on the steering wheel. DO I need a bluetooth adapter in the phone cradle area? The car I am picking up next weekend is a 2005 GT model.
  12. Has anyone had just a Nismo or DC Sports backbox fitted (not the complete system)? How much was the part and to have it fitted - is it much cheaper than the complete cat back system? I'm interested in upgrading the exhaust in the future to a stainless steel one but prices for a complete system are pretty high (I know most will say do the whole system but cost is a factor) so interested in just upgrading the backbox for now - at least to get the nice shiny look at the back . Does anyone have a pic of the DC Sports backbox on their 350 from a direct rear view angle? Thanks for any info.
  13. Looks VERY nice but looks expensive. How much was it? Good integrated sat navs can be had for £200-300 (plus fitting) so really looking to pay that kind of price.
  14. Hi I would like to have an after market integrated sat nav fitted to the cubby hole where the oem sat nav would normally go. Paying £1k-£2k to have the factory sat nav fitted is too expensive. I don't want a portable sat nav. So am on the look out for compatible makes of integrated sat navs that can be fitted to the connections at the back of the cubby hole. Has anyone done this before and if so which make (and part number) did you go for and how much was it to get fitted? I've done lots of searching on this and found very little on the subject. Thanks for any help.
  15. Does that 1600 include the Blitz Nur Spec exhaust? How much did you get the exhaust for and how much to get it fitted? Does it have a "metallic rasp" to it?
  16. What part of the exhaust is different on the later 2006/2007 350z's compared to the earlier Z? Is it just the backbox or from the cat back? The later 350 is supposed to have a slightly louder noise. Does the earlier 350z have the more metallic / raspy sounding note (which I personally actually really like)? Is the stock backbox on all the 350s stainless steel or black mild steel - or is it just the tips that are stainless? Can the later 350z backbox fit the earlier 350z?
  17. Cheers yeah I thought that was the case - guess if I did have an issue I would keep taking it to a dealer until they listened to me. Do you know if an actual technical bulletin was raised for this issue?
  18. Hi I have just bought a 350z from a Nissan main dealer and am picking up my new car (which is 3.5yrs old) in just over a week. I am about to buy 2 year's extended full manufacturer's warranty (on the paperwork it is called "Nissan Premium Care - 3-7yr 80k"). I am getting it all half price for a total of £400 from the Nissan dealer. Just interested to know if the "common problem" of cd's skipping in the GT's Bose stereo is covered by the extended mfr warranty? And also whether the "crunching gears" is covered? I have been told by the dealer that the stereo is not covered under the extended mfr warranty. I mentioned that the Bose had a technical service bulletin against it and they said there had never been a bulletin against the stereo. What's the case with the stereo exactly - is there a technical bulletin for it? It's definitely a "known" issue. Hopefully it wont be an issue and my stereo will be fine but just like to be prepared with a bit of knowledge Thanks for any help.
  19. My mum's polo actually cut out and she couldn't restart the engine - all just from adjusting the steering wheel. It was an inherent fault with her polo's year and to do with kinking the wires or something. Could be that a wire was kinked slightly in your case. Joggling or re-adjusting the steering wheel helped in her case. It was only the AA man that told her he had seen it happen on many many other polo's in exactly the same way. The air bag light is a known issue (not sure if a technical bulletin exists for it - someone here can confirm) and if it comes back on the dealer should fix the problem - could be a fault air bag control module (which I believe is situated in the centre of the dash - again someone on here can confirm this). Just to confirm the air bag light reset is start with car off, start car up and as soon as the air bag light flashes out the first time immediately turn the engine off before it has a chance to flash back on, then start the car back up and repeat three more times (so four times in total)? Is this how you did the reset?
  20. By the way why is it you say be very careful un-doing the original? Can it damage the gearbox if I yank too hard? Also, an important question does it invalidate a manufacturer's extended warranty? For example if I get the crunching gears will they use the excuse that I have used non-standard parts and not agree to do the work?
  21. Cheers Matt. Does anyone have any more pics of the Nismo gearknob (http://www.jdmperformance.co.uk/item_detail.php?prodID=59399) in a pre 2006 350 with black leather seats so I can see what it looks like in the interior? I'm erring to the JDM one in the link as it looks good and has a curved top.
  22. Is a faulty air bag control module covered by warranty/technical bulletin? The car I have put a deposit down on had the air bag light on (wasn't flashing - was just on permanently) which the Nissan dealer said they would fix before me picking it up. They said it was because the passenger air bag was turned off (I didn't believe him) but if they can fix it that's fine. Just worried it may rear its head again as I have read this is a weak point of the 350 or a common issue and can re-occur.
  23. Thanks CS - would it cover the gear change/syncro issues?
  24. Hi Just bought (or have put down a deposit) a 55 plate 3 and a half year old 350 and about to pick it up in couple of weeks. By buying it from a Nissan dealer I have been given a 12 month warranty which they said is the same as a mfr warranty (on the paperwork it calls it "Premium Care - 12Mth (Nissan Car 3-7yr/80k") - is this correct?. I've been offered a second year at half price £200. Does my warranty cover exactly the same known issues (such as Bose stereo skipping and gear box problems) as the standard mfr 3 year warranty when you buy your car from new? Thanks for any help.
