  1. The ugly bonnet as you put it, is rather necessary to house the super charger though. They actually look a lot better in person, not a very good shot but this 350 belongs to a friend of mine, who's running the full Stillen setup, he's had over 20,000kms of full race driven kms, being driven at full throttle the whole time. This photo was taken almost 2 years ago. One thing I've noticed with his car, obviously being a full blown race car the bonnet is up and down every pitstop, the bonnet is looking a wee bit tired in a few areas. Thanks for all your replies. Bronzee, do you know what kind of wheel horse power your friend's car put down with the Stillen supercharger? I've heard it is around 300whp. I'm not sure what this equates to at the flywheel though - around 350-360bhp I estimate? Will a late 2007 bonnet (with the new bulge) accomodate the supercharger or would it still require modifying?
  2. Does anyone here have the Vortech supercharger conversion? I know this is a roots type charger that produces power higher up the rev range as opposed to the Stillen screw type which has power low down the rev range. Any other kits to consider?
  3. Hi Saw this article http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarr ... _350z.html Has anyone here had the £4800 Stillen supercharger conversion? What kind of power output did your car put down on the rolling road. Does it make your car "feel" much quicker or is it barely noticable, ie is it worth it? Did the £4800 include everything required including the vital ECU remap etc? Are there other cheaper but equally as good supercharger conversions available? Thanks for any info.
  4. Out of curiosity SAFC99 what age/type of M3 was it that you raced? Was it an E46 (01 reg onwards)?
  5. Surely as long as it is a manual the euro manual clutch and flywhee and jdm manual clutch and flywheel are all the same?! I too would avoid a main dealer. You'l get far more experience and half the price at a 350 specialist. Not sure why you would need a flywheel replaced unless there was something wrong with the car (more than just the clutch). Bet it was nissan who told you you needed a clutch and flywheel.
  6. I agree with above. I once had trouble with my battery. Went to halfords to get a brand new battery and the problem was still there. So I naturally thought it wasn't the battery but another problem. Turned out the brand new battery was a dud too!! Could also be your alternator which isn't carrying the charge. Try a different specialist - they should all give it a quick check over for free if they are any good. Good luck
  7. Doesn't seem too cheap. I have seen quite a few cars on pistonheads and autotrader all with average mileage (not high mileage) for around the 12k mark. There are some overpriced cars out there too I noticed in my search.
  8. Never use normal unleaded such as 95 ron. You will suffer pinking and potential detonation which can damage your engine permanently!! I have always used Tesco 99 ron fuel for years as our local was one of the first and it has always performed brilliantly with my cars. All fuel is shipped many miles across the world and have equal amounts of the same chemicals. The profit margin is just far far lower for Tesco hence it is much cheaper than big "brand" rivals like BP (very expensive and only 97 ron) and Shell but the product itself is near enough identical. You're just paying more for the same thing. Higher rated ron will result in more power but only depending on what your ecu is set up for. In the case of the 350 it is set up for 98. You will suffer power and performance loss if you put lower rated ron fuel in, and can be around 20+bhp loss if you put poor quality 95 ron in according to some rolling road tests. Turbo cars will get far better gains by putting higher rated ron fuel in.
  9. The 2006 model with 296bhp actually has less torque than the earlier model therefore meaning not quite as punchy acceleration but higher max top speed which you'd never really see unless on a track, and I too have heard of oil issues with the 2006- early 2007 model. I prefer the front bumper look of the 2006 model but apart from that I would go for an 05 or 55 registration last of the 276bhp model and then modify that. £4800 will get you a full supercharger (stillen) conversion and a nice 370bhp. Good luck in your search.
  10. Would you only gain the 10% if you had mods beforehand such as cams/plenum spacer or similar? I thought the stock 350z's ecu, even with a piggyback or remap, is at its limit already in terms of power and very little is gained if anything - unless the car is modified beforehand. The modifed ecu gets the fuelling spot on (vital after fitting cams or bigger mods) and any power increase is a bonus.

    My Nismo Wheels

Beavis, are your Nismo's a 10.5 width wheel to be able to fit the 275 tyres at the rear?

    My Nismo Wheels

Stunning wheels mate. What size tyres and wheels did you go for at the rear and front? Have you lowered the car at all or is it all on stock suspension? The wheels really suit the car. Cheers Matt
  13. Does anyone here have or have heard a titanium exhaust system on a 350? Is it much louder than stock or virtually the same, or is it louder than a stainless steel system?
  14. Hi What is the normal oil operating temp? I know it is absolutely vital not to over rev (keep revs below 3-3.5k revs) during warm up period (in my last car it was around ten mins at least). How long do you wait in your 350 before the oil temp in the trip computer reads normal operating temp? Thanks for any info.
  15. I'm pretty new to the 350z ..what is Window auto drop? Is it related to when you remote lock the car and the windows automatically close? Am I right in assuming all 350z version (GT and non-GT as well as all JDM) have windows (if currently open) that close automatically when you remote centrally lock the car?
  16. Hi I know it's early days for the vq35HR (313bhp lump), having only been released the latter half of 2007, but are the internals (pistons etc) stronger and more reliable than the earlier vq35DE (276-296bhp) lump? Which lump can reliably withstand the most bhp/torque? Thanks for any info.
  17. cant wait to see it, how are you tackling the ecu issue? Strictly speeaking we don't need to do anything with the ECU as ours is a 2003 JDM but we will be fitting the F-con to maximise everything and fine tune it. Who'll do the tuning, Phil? One of our power writer contacts not sure who as yet. How did this kit turn out bigphil? Did you need to upgrade the internals? 412hp at the wheels must equate to quite a large 450ish at the fly? Or can the stock internals cope with over 450bhp as long as the fuel system is upgraded and the compression is lowered with a thicker head gasket? How much was the kit in £? Cheers Matt
  18. Unfortunately the shipping and right hand drive differences (drive shaft issues etc) mean the official uk suppliers/installers will charge £9k total fully fitted - which in my opinion is very expensive. In the US or Japan you would be paying half this but not here Personally the Stillen supercharger route (which is £4800 fully fitted in the UK - see http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarr ... _350z.html) seems much better value at half the price for 370-380bhp - so not much less power difference than the turbo set up. I think they need to do something about a bonnet though (see the link)
  19. Thanks for your replies. Does the new engine with 313bhp in late 2007 have any oil issues? I guess the type of oil used can make a huge difference. Do most use the Nissan approved oil? Is it fully or semi-synthetic?
  20. Hi I have heard reports from different people that the 2006 model (with the revised engine with 296bhp) has much higher oil consumption than the earlier model and later 2007 model (which had the whole new engine). Is this true? Has anyone here had issues with the 2006 model or is this all unfounded? What was the reason behind Nissan going to the expense of changing 80% of the engine for just one year before changing it completely in late 2007 to the new 313bhp engine? Was this to sort the alleged oil issue out? Thanks for any help and information.
  21. Cheers guys for the help and all the sound clips in the posted links. I'll have a search for greddy systems too. I do like the Fujitsutubo sound clips. I assume a titanium system will be slightly quieter than a stainless steel system?
  22. Thanks for the link to all the exhaust clips. I've managed to play all of them by selecting "save target as" on the links. Does anyone have a link to a DC Sports exhaust clip? Thanks again for all the help.
  23. Thanks for the replies. I can't seem to play the mp3 file. When I click the link a little red cross appears. Are there any other good quality exhausts that anyone can recommend which really get the most out of the v6 howl with clips? I've found plenty of Nismo clips but only one with a Fujitsutubo clips (would like to hear more of this exhaust and any others people can recommend). Ideally I'd like a system that keeps the dual exit style. I've also heard of a DC Sports exhaust but not heard any clips of this yet. Cheers for any help.
