  1. Was your latest Uprev map done with the latest mods you have ie Fujitsubo headers, decats etc? Just interesting to see what works effectively with the Uprev. Your mod list clearly works
  2. ~280 at the hubs is pretty amazing. Very nice results . What are your current bolt on mods (and is your car a non-revup 2003-2005)?
  3. What kind of power output are you getting with the Uprev? Yes have the Nismo Y-pipe. The MD xyz pipe does look good - pricey though but supposed to be very good quality as you say. Interesting what you say about being able to run decat test pipes and map the engine to pass the MOT. Didn't know that - I assume it must be to do with altering the fuelling/air and timing etc. Really happy with my new (well 18 month old) Nismo - makes the rear look very nice and shiney! and I was loving putting my foot down ever so slightly just to hear that lovely sound.
  4. Thanks for your reply and info. I want to be sure which hfc to get before spending out me dosh (hfc are pretty pricey but don't want the hassle of taking them on and off for each mot and don't want the rasp you get with TP) Did you mention you may be getting the Uprev remap during January 3Fiddyz or was that another couple of members? Just curious what the results were.
  5. Cheers guys. Yes was planning on getting them from Z1 if I go for them (cannot find any UK suppliers of this hfc) and agree they certainly look very top quality. I have just emailed Adam at Z1. Does anyone know what the sound is like of the Ultimate Racing ceramic hfc and whether they sound similar to Kinetix ones (which are also all ceramic)? I have found a youtube clip of Ultimate Racing hfc but the owner does not say what type they are - - Does anyone know know if these are more likely to be the ceramic or metal cats that this guy has used? Thanks guys.
  6. I've got a Nismo. Got it fitted today actually and really liking it - just want to free up some of that lovely sound. I got the exhaust second hand courtesy of Zmanalex and Colin - it was in very good condition and the sound when you get over 2500 revs is lovely. It's not much louder than stock. My stock exhaust had a blow in it (which sounded great) so was actually louder than my new Nismo so I actually have a quiet car again. Just want it slightly louder. It certainly revs much harder. Just want a bit more sound (and of course power). Kinetix would have been my choice - being ceramic (I've heard bad stories of the metal cores of Berks and other metalic hfc) but not ceramic ones, however the Kinetix are very prone to cracking. Love the sound the Kinetix make but wondered if Ultimate Racing ceramic ones would sound similar. Just cannot find any sound clips. I'm sure there was one on Youtube of a guy in Germany or Spain but for the life of me cannot find it.
  7. Hi Does anyone have Ultimate Racing ceramic hfc with Nismo or can anyone find clips of what this combination sounds like - is it similar to the Kinetix (which are all ceramic) hfc with a Nismo? I have heard issues with metallic hfc where the cores can burn out and issues with cracks on Kinetix hfc (all something to do with the lack of flex in the Nismo Y-pipe) but not heard of any issues at all with the Ultimate Racing ceramic ones. I've had a good search in youtube but cannot find any Ultimate Racing high flow cats with a Nismo. Thanks for any help and info.
  8. Hi I occasionally see parts I want to order from America. Who here has ordered from America and can tell me how the import tax works? Is it the same rate as VAT, ie 17.5% on the total cost inc shipping or is it calculated in some other way - and how do I pay it and when? Say for example I order something and get it delivered to my local garage (because they would be fitting the parts) would they have to pay the import tax because they have taken receipt of the goods - how does it all work? Thanks for any help and info.
  9. Hi Does anyone know (or have a diagram) of how to adjust or remove the tough black rubber strip that goes all along underneath the front bumper/lip? I understand it is held on by about five clips but cannot work out how to re-adjust or move it up or take it off. Mine is currently hanging low about a couple of cms in the middle area and is a bit scuffed. Until I get a new rubber strip I want to try and move mine up so it is in the right position and not hanging low. Is it just a case of tighening up some small nuts underneath and at the back of the rubber strip? From what I can feel there are some nuts behind the rubber strip at set intervals - but they are as tight as they can be so tightening them up doesn't work. I'm assuming they need to be loosened and then the clips moved up? Unfortunately I don't have a stubby screwdriver so can't do much more, so will have to buy one - but if anyone can let me know if they have had to do this before and if loosening them will allow me to re-adjust the rubber strip? Do I have to reach down inside the engine bay near the radiator to hold the bolts at the same time as loosening/tightening the nuts behind the rubber strip? I may need three arms lol. Thanks for any help and info.
  10. On all the clips I have seen the 350z is always the quickest even when both are modded. I personally have never driven an s2000 but was interested in getting one before I got my 350. However when I read reviews that on the whole that a 2000 would feel much more sluggish low down the revs that put me off. It would be brilliant for a track where you can really rev it to get into the power band however for me on a normal road I don't rev a car over 5000 revs normally. In my z even revving it to just 3500 revs is more than enough to pin your back to your seat and beat most other cars on the road. However I like the look of the seats in a 2000 but would not be keen on a soft top. Up to you though test drive both if you have the smallest doubts.
  11. Well I've finally got my exhaust - it's a second hand Nismo exhaust courtesy of Zmanalex and Colin. Exactly the system I wanted but was always just a bit too pricey brand new. So have an 18 month old system about to be fitted this Sat! It's currently filling up my hallway, sitting room and bedroom which pleases my gf immensly! It's in brilliant condition and is effectively as good as new. Just need some high flow cats to really get the best of the Nismo tone. If anyone knows of some pre-owned lowish mileage high flow cats please pm me!
  12. Looking good! I get in the same boat when I clean mine - I start cleaning it early arvo and by the time I've finished the sun has gone in!
  13. Just turned 100 got the queen's letter in the post this morn lol. Actually I'm only 33, almost had the car for exactly a year now still loving it. 'Bout to put my first mod on this weekend - second hand Nismo exhaust
  14. Hi I'm looking for pre-owned low mileage high flow cats or resonated test pipes which are in good condition (ie no cracks etc) for a 2003-2005 350z. Please pm me with price and info. I live in the south east so can collect from anywhere in this area and can pay via Paypal. Thanks for any help or info.
  15. Let us know how you get on with the Blueflame exhaust. I'll be interested to know what it looks and sounds like.

    tracker

My gf Mini has a tracker, fitted by BMW and her insurance company said it made no difference to her premium. Her insurance company is Liverpool Victoria (LV). Apparently you pay around £100 each year and keep doing so, however if you pay one lump sum of ~£300 it is paid for for life. This is all in addition to the initial set up cost. All these costs are approx. Only thinking from memory when she bought the car. It's worth it if you want to get your car back very quickly (of course this is reliant on the police doing their job quickly) before any damage is done to the car. It also relies on you finding out your car has been stolen just after it has been stolen. Waking up the next morning and finding the car is missing gives them several hours to torch it. But definitely don't get a tracker to reduce your premium because it won't. Up to you though.
  17. Yes I am definitely finding it hard to choose my exhaust . Initially I really wanted the Tanabe, love the sound (very similar to Nismo, top notch quality, but also want the Tanabe Y-pipe but the system works out slightly more than a Nismo! So quite pricey and I would prefer a Nismo but only reason I haven't got the Nismo is down to price. Not 100% sure on the look of the Tanabe dual wall tail pipes - would prefer rolled or slash cut and it's a lot of dosh to pay out if I'm not 100% happy. I want a system that includes the Y-pipe so the Tanabe is out due to cost. The Borla is true dual and therefore goes right up to the cats. Hence I moved from Tanabe to slightly cheaper Borla and I really like the stock looking tail pipes on the Borla and the sound is amazing plus it is true dual and more freer flowing and according to the US forums does not lose any low down torque, in fact the opposite. I actually think it is quieter than the Tanabe if you keep the stock cats. I'm still open to alternatives. Another one I was also considering was the Magnaflow. However at 2.5" it is only a few more mm bigger bore than the stock 2.36" system. So not sure. Aggresive sound though which I like and it has rolled oem style tail pipes which I prefer. Other than the Borla the only other system I was on the verge of buying was the Invidia Q300 system (not G200) this one has rolled tail pipes but have found zero clips on internet of this system - I have found a few clips of the Q300 true dual on the 370z and personally it doesn't sound quite right, just my opinion. Are most true duals "slip fit"? Thanks for the replies guys. If the Tanabe "Hyper" Medalion was still available which is exactly the same as the "Touring" but has slash cut pipes I would definitely be up for getting it but alas it's discontinued plus it was cheaper. I'm quite indecisive so may well change my mind about the Borla - the unusual fitting issue has made me re-think it. However it is a lot of money and want to be 100% sure.
  18. Hi thanks for finding out that information. Appreciate it. Unfortunately the exhaust I really want is the Tanabe "Hyper" Medalion as in this clip (with Y-pipe). However I've been informed the "Hyper" is now discontinued The only one they do now is the "Touring" version - here are the clips I have found, all the same car and and It sounds nice however this is all just one car and I always like to hear it on at least two different cars first. I did find this clip and cannot tell whether it is the "Touring" version or "Hyper" - but sounds quite different to the white 350z but the tail pipes do look like the "Touring" version (the Touring has a double walled tip). Not sure I like the noise of that last clip. I would ideally like a Y-pipe too so all works out fairly pricey. Lovely quality though. I am now erring towards a Borla true dual, which can be ordered in at £827 ex vat or £972 inc vat and import taxes and all delivery to UK (this is via Borla's UK official supplier USA Automotive) although if Envy can beat or meet this price then would rather put my business through them. Gaz, what do you think (I'll pm you in case you don't read this)? The Borla with decat pipes (certainly Strup test pipes) has minimal or no rasp (very rare for any exhaust, must be the TD config) and sounds amazing - cross between V6/V8 - very unique sound - here's a clip (the sound inside the car is amazing) (ignore the cheesy rock music lol). I'm finding out more prices of the Borla tomorrow via my local nissan specialist to see how they compare to the £972. What do you think of the Borla, H5? Comes highly recommended by the guys in my350z and has million mile warranty which is a bonus and doesn't lose low down torque, plus actually weighs 1kg less than a Nismo according to a US magazine survey.
  19. The FM transmitter could well depend on location. I live in the south and we have lots of radio stations but the fm transmitter, when first set up, will find an unused frequency and then you simply move your radio fm frequency to that number. I have never had a problem with mine. I do know older FM transmitters used to be temperamental and my gf has used a few and the one from Halfords is the best one yet. Worth buying, keep receipt and trying and if no good take it back. Was worth the money for me but as mentioned above if it doesn't work the tape deck is your answer and will do exactly the same - for around £7.
  20. Really sorry to hear about your accident. Just glad you walked away fine. I had a similar accident in my old car a few years back - overturned my golf into a ditch. How did your old M3 compare to the Z? Performance wise I assume the M3 would have the edge top end but I far prefer the exclusive look of the Z compared to the 3 series M3. Good luck in your new purchase Jay - hopefully it can work out for the best.
  21. Yep the Japspeed K2 is a 3" bore http://z-store.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseacti ... rentCat=30 Spoke to Envy/Z store the other day and also Japspeed direct and they are out of stock for over a month. I do like the look of the Tanabe but can only find one person on youtube (the one I've linked to) that has the Tanabe Medalion "Touring" version with stock cats. There are a couple with decats but I always like to hear at least two different cars with an exhaust before deciding on it. There's plenty of the "Hyper" Medalion and I have to say this sounds amazing with the Tanabe Y-pipe but as with my usual luck it is now discontinued. Z1 can do a good price on the Tanabe touring - I've worked out after delivery and import taxes I'm looking at just over £800ish which is very good for the quality of exhaust you're getting. Envy don't appear to do the Tanabe exhaust - can't see it on their site.
  22. I thought about the Tanabe Y-pipe but pricey - whole system would work out more than a Nismo. I know what you mean about the midpipe not being a perfect match to most other aftermarket Y-pipes but I've been told this is quite common because only a few midpipes are actually 3 inch - Nismo, Japspeed, Fujitsutubo are the only 3" (76mm) ones I know - most are either 2.5 or 2.75" (70mm as with this Tanabe) and although not optimal it is still going to release a few ponies. Problem over here in the UK there are not many UK suppliers of the US exhausts such as Bassani, Borla etc and all have to be imported and this adds import taxes - which I "assume" is the same as VAT 17.5%. Shipping from the states seems to start from $300 for a full system although some companies have quoted over $400 Z1 is def the best for imports at around $300 shipping total. I'm in two minds at the mo because my gf had a look at the Tanabe pics and thought it looked like the 350z had been "chavved" up and was too big for the back. I personally disagree but I do on the other hand want to keep it subtle and understated. I was originally thinking of getting the Japspeed K2 - very oem look, 3" bore which is good. Not sure if the tips of the Japspeed look slightly smaller than the stock exhaust tips or not - anyone know? Also has a similar noise to a Nismo for nearly four times less money. Prob is they are out of stock for quite a few weeks Plus my local garage is snowed in.
  23. I've found someone who does have one in the US - they posted pics on the my350z forum http://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/ ... clips.html
