  1. Here you go - stock exhaust with Kinetix high flow cats (ceramic) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hohxRr0j_hc
  2. Best to get an FM transmitter for ~£30 from Halfords and then you get your ipod or iphone playing wirelessly Also charges it up at the same time - just plug it into the cig lighter inbetween the seats and your iphone can rest in the centre cubby hole between the seats (where the bluetooth adapter also sits) and bobs your uncle. Use mine every time I drive. Although my CD player has been 99% perfect since buying the car 12mths ago, no real problems - my old golf's Sony CD player was only 99% perfect too - I only had one or two cd's skip but only when it was very cold and on the whole the 350z's cd player has been perfect touch wood. Bose is actually a very good make of stereo and fitted to high end cars worldwide. I went for the 2005 model (non-revup) because they ironed out the small issues in the 03/04 models. It's worth noting that the facelift rev-up 2006 model had reported oil consumption issues in a few of the cars, enough cases for Nissan to have it as a known issue/service bulletin, although it was only a very small minority of cars affected.
  3. Has anyone seen one of these in the flesh: . Adam at Z1 sell them (http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?mode ... rodid=3974) and they look very high quality and the sound seems very similar to a Nismo but slightly deeper. Looks very similar to the stock tips just larger because I don't want anything over the top - looking for something fairly subtle but nice. I'm very tempted. I've done a search on here but can't find anyone else who has one and what their opinions are. I know it's a very personal thing but what does everyone think of the noise/look? Here's another clip of the same exhaust so you can see more of what it looks like at the rear but this guy has added some test pipes so it is much more raspy but its a good clip to see the exhaust tips:
  4. My exhaust backbox/midpipe has a small blow in it - it is noticable but not overly loud, just sounds "sporty". It's the stock/standard exhaust. Will it affect my MOT? I've got my MOT end of this month. I am planning on getting the Japspeed K2 exhaust but it is currently out of stock Thanks for any help and info.
  5. In agreement with all others above that you will only really be able to get a 2003-2005 350z. It's worth noting that the 2003-2005 actually had the most factory quoted torque (274 lbs/ft) than both the two facelift models that followed (2006 revup had 260 and HR had 268). My car in fact made close to 290 lbs/ft torque and is totally stock. It pulls like stink The higher bhp in the other two models will only be noticed if going at speeds well over 100 so all in all very little difference between them. Unfortunately prices have gone up slightly in second hand cars, pretty amazing but facts are facts (they have definitely not gone down at all) because the economy has had an upturn recently. A year ago you could probably have gotten a slightly higher mileage 2006 for your budget but definitely not now. Good luck in your search.
  6. My thoughts exactly lol However I was watching this but am not expecting to go for it because it will no doubt go for at least £600 come the final minute and I just can't justify paying that for an 18 month old system and have a feeling most of that cost is just for a name (this is just my own personal opinion though). But it does have the best sound I have EVER heard on any system. It is a lovely exhaust and if I had the money would definitely get one. Re issues: the only issues I have heard is that the Y-pipe can potentially crack if you decide to fit decats or hfc, although I have not found much info backing this up when I asked this a while back.
  7. Hi there I definitely want to get the Uprev remap (price wise it beats everything) but want to make sure I have the right modifications first beforehand but without getting mods that really will not make much difference to get the most power. I have heard you mention the main mods that are worth doing on an early UK non-revup 2003-2005 DE 350z (276bhp), are: -drop in panel filter -change Y-pipe to aftermarket one -remove stock cats -then get your Uprev flash. My main question is would you also recommend a 5/16" plenum spacer or not to complement the exhaust/cat mods above - does this respond well with the uprev remap, improving the midrange as well as top end power/torque or does it make very little difference? You also touched on "Abbey's tuning packages" in another post - are you able to give more details? My car is totally stock at the moment by the way and all being well want kind of target wheel horsepower (at the hubs) could I expect at least (approx figure) with the bolt on mods mentioned above with the Uprev remap, average increase throughout the midrange (which I view as most important), as well as top end? Sorry for all the questions - hopefully this will help other members also interested in this. Thanks for any information and help.
  8. Very nice results. 268 wheel horse power at the hubs equates to ~319bhp at the fly (assuming 16% transmission losses: 319 * 0.84 = 268). I believe the HR 350's dyno at around 255-260 at the wheels so 310-320bhp at the flyw for your car seems very realistic. You may need to change the "303bhp" your sig The osiris uprev reflash seems to have very good results with bolt on mods. Lots of discussion about this and unfortunatly its not that easy!..... Better just to quote hub figs! Not that I am complaining about mine being 325 @ the fly via your figs! Also Abbeys Dynos are at the Hub so more accurate than at the wheel Totally agree with you about only quoting wheel/hub horsepower. Most of the folks in the States only mention wheel horsepower whp as opposed to "b"hp (power at the fly/engine) for comparison purposes as that is what is being measured - and also to stick to one type of dyno (I have personal experience of getting two very different wheel (yes wheel) horsepower figures at two different dynos. Also agree that the dynapack dyno that Abbey uses is the best for measuring and most consistent. Anything over 250 whp is very impressive on a car with 220-230whp as standard. 268 whp is staggering for simple bolt on mods on the DE engine with an ecu tune. Goes to show how restrictive the stock ecu is.
  9. So the car had 260 bhp at the hub,s before or after tuning? just trying to work out figures in my head. I think from Bennet's post that he had 217 wheel horsepower at the hubs before the tune and the 260 at the hubs is after the tune.. as far as I understand, Bennet?

  11. Just as a follow up I found out from Kinetix that their high flow cats are 200cpi.
  12. Hi Mark Any news when you will be fitting the Motordyne XYZ pipe to your 350z (is it a 276bhp model)? And is the rest of your car totally stock (including rest of exhaust) when you add the XYZ Y-pipe when you dyno it? Will you be applying your uprev flash tune to see what gains the XYZ pipe alone gives with your remap? Very interested to see how it goes. Thanks for any info. Matt
  13. Lol I was joking re two different replies. Thanks for the replies. I totally agree they are very harsh over on my350z.com. This forum is ten times more friendly . There are a couple of particular users on that forum which have a real attitude for no apparent reason - I guess you just get some people like that . Thanks for the replies by the way - all and any opinions welcome.
  14. Thanks guys. Two very different replies lol. Anyone else?
  15. Does anyone know how much louder your exhaust will be with fitting Kinetix high flow cats? They are ceramic high flow cats so am I right in assuming there will be very little change in your exhaust noise after fitting them? Thanks for any info.
  16. Thanks guys. Sounds like mine has probably had a scrape at some point and has made it hang down slightly. I suspect a few of the U-shape clips have probably come off at some point. I'll try and get hold of some. Thanks for the help.
  17. Does anyone know about the flow rate differences (which are best) between metal cats (like Berk) and ceramic cats like the Kinetix ones? Does anyone know the "cell" rating of both?
  18. Thanks for the info. I have searched the sales section yesterday but couldn't find any. Will have another look. Have you been on the dyno since fitting them?
  19. Hi I've done a lot of searching for an answer but cannot find any info. I'm sure it's a simple answer. Do metal cats (like Berk) have better flow rates than ceramic cats (like Kinetix) or is there very little difference between them aside from the noise? Does anyone have dyno proof or experience of either? Does anyone have Kinetix high flow cats on their 350z? I'm pretty tempted because they seem to be doing a 33% discount at the moment offering them for $332 on their website. I contacted them to find out an approx shipping cost and they said $80 so all in looking to be around $412 which is around £258 (plus 17.5% vat for importing into UK ~£45 - not sure if they tax the total amount inc shipping or not but have done 17.5% of the lot to be safe) so grand total ~£303 (a saving of around £150). Their site says the discount ends 31st Dec just in case anyone else was interested. I wasn't going to get hfc because at close to £500 seemed pretty hefty but the discount they are offering which I noticed last night has tempted me. Anyway before I go ahead and order some I was wondering if anyone here already had any and what the quality was like? I know they are not quite as good as the Berk Technology ones but then they are normally a bit cheaper than berk but flow rate should be exactly the same. Does anyone have any info? Also is anyone running high flow cats with the Japspeed K2 exhaust? My plan is to get the K2 exhaust as it seems like a real bargain at £350 but wondered what the sound would be like with the high flow cats too - I'm assuming it will be similar to a Nismo with hfc, because without hfc the K2 sounds very similar to a Nismo maybe a bit deeper. Thanks for any info.

    Nismo

Very nice purchase and very jealous! Looks amazing and the sound will make heads turn!
  21. Hi Has anyone got pics of how their standard black rubber lip/strip looks like (quite close up pics) which is just under the front bumper at the bottom? Only reason I ask is because mine seems to hang down too low exposing some patchy looking metal behind it (its patchy because I assume the rubber was originally glued or stuck to it). I'm assuming the rubber strip/lip is supposed to cover this metal and was originally stuck somehow to the metal. Is the rubber strip quite easy to remove and re-adjust or move upwards a cm? Also does anyone know how much a replacement rubber strip is because mine is badly scraped? Thanks for any help and info.
  22. Sounds like very useful info there Mark. Are you able to give similar tips for the earlier non-revup DE motor and what make the realistic gains?
  23. Hi Luke If you have the revup engine I have read the single most effective bolt on mod is the 5/16" plenum spacer and lower "MREV" (might be called MREV2 now) and independent tests in the US have confirmed gains of at least 15-17 wheel hp and similar torque gains. I think (maybe wrong) the MREV is the "lower" plenum. It costs around £400 but for those kinds of gains I would do it if I had the revup engine. Motordyne Engineering tend to be the experts when it comes to this kind of mod. Its important to know the spacer on its own will have very little or no effect in the revup engine - you need the lower plenum MREV to get the gains. Z-store on here sell Motordyne stuff and come well recommended Hope that helps. Good luck.
