You have to take the whole mirror assembly off the car - maybe 30 minutes work if your quick! I just brought a second hand pair and painted them, then swapped them for mine. Cheers for the offer on the mirrors, but if the caps don't come off anyway I'm thinking it'll be easier to mask up the car and paint them in situ. Hmm.
