jimmy.farrow7 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Right I recently decided to start to bling my bay and choose to do something different and went for orange/blue. It isnt finished i have all my engine bay bits being dipped as we speak just wanted peoples opinions so far as im 99% sure to change the blue conduit for orange. Quote
GMballistic Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 It's all personal taste jimmy ~ if it was me then that blue would definitely have to go but if you like it then stick with it. Have you seen 14N's engine bay? Look's along the same lines as you're trying to achieve. Hope that's some inspiration to you. His build thread is here; http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/67814-me-and-my-zed-thread/page__st__260 3 Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 I did it blue to experiment with colours and different combinations but im not to keen on blue, so i am going to go with orange and black/carbon i think. Ill update with pictures once ive done some more work Quote
GMballistic Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I think it will look better the way you're thinking of going with the orange/black & carbon theme. Quote
KyleR Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I don't like the idea of orange on orange. You're going to have a sunset car with bright orange engine bay, it's just look off in my opinion. I actually like the sky blue. It's completely unique and contrasts against the car 1 Quote
Mopedmark Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 The blue doesn't work at all I'm afraid but it is what you like that counts mate Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 The blue was an experiment while i have spare time at home i liked it to start with as it was different but i am going with the black/orange. All the parts are currently being dipped in gold carbon, battery cover, engine cover and brake fluid cover. Im also going to get a different strut brace and i am debating a samco hose kit Quote
Stutopia Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I'm with KyleR, go contrast on a Sunset, you'll never get an orange to match that orange. Sky Blue FTW! 1 Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Maybe ill do some more combinations see if i can get it to work in a different way some how :S Quote
Mopedmark Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 It was worth a punt at something different Quote
Fluke Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Here's a picture of my bay. I'd like to take credit for it, but the work was done by MopedMark. I still have a few bit I want to do and when Its finish I will put up a few photos showing the before and afters. 3 Quote
StevoD Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 dont take offence but my opinion is it looks like fisher price i dont mean the work i mean the colours Quote
Mopedmark Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Let's see what your packing under your bonnet then Stevo Quote
StevoD Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Let's see what your packing under your bonnet then Stevo Nothing much other than a nismo CAI, Plastic cover removed and EVo-r From redline fitted im not one for Blingin a bay, most of my Bay is full of Dust from norfolk arena i think mouthwash and other at the meet on the m25 service few months back loved it although Flukes is nice nice balance between chrome carbon and paint if not a little to much fake tan for me But if i was going to it would be like this Function over form 1 Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Cheers for the tips, still undedicided, just going to keep experimenting till I find a combo I like as everyome has different tastes anyway 1 Quote
KyleR Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 The carbon dipped stuff is good, carbon goes with everything But if you don't like the sky blue, try find another light/bright colour to use instead On the other had, if you're dead set on going orange, then I have this strut brace for sale Quote
Crb Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Not sure on the colour scheme but good job on all that conduit tho!!! Took me ages to get just a few pieces on ..... and then I took them all back off because it didn't look quite right on mine. Quote
Grundy Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Nothing wrong with a bit of experimenting Quote
AliveBoy Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I like the blue, it makes me feel happy Quote
Tarmac@TarmacSportz Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 I like the blue hose covers Jimmy If it were me I might be tempted to upgrade the strut brace to a shiny one and change the battery/brake covers. I've seen Moped Marks in the flesh and it is amazing, the work on that and the other guys posted on page 1 is top notch stuff - really impressive 1 Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 I like your white engine cover thats different and stands out. The conduit took me about 4 hours to do i think roughly i even managed to get all the tiny 5mm brake fluid lines under the brake fluid cover, will be nice and fun to remove them when i change colour scheme Quote
jimmy.farrow7 Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 The strut brace is one of the very next things I am getting Tarmac, what have you got in stock at the moment Quote
14N Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 It's all personal taste jimmy ~ i Taste? No one told me it needed to be tasteful. I must've missed that memo. I kinda like the blue, it's a different and unexpected contrast (which is why I went with orange). I just don't think it works with the orange items you have also painted. It would maybe work better with a more neutral colour, such as black/carbon and some shiny stuff. 1 Quote
