the_doc Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I have a friend who is wanting to have a twin-turbo set up on an imported revup. I've been having a look and the GTM rhd kit but was wondering if anybody had experience with it? Also would it be possible to get a rough estimate on the cost and unexpected expenses by people that have gone the twin-turbo route themselves? Also the ideal power goal is 600+ so are there any weaknesses that need to be addressed pushing numbers that high. Jay. Quote
mrt Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 With 600 bhp " unexpected expenses " might be in the region of 12 points 1 Quote
GIXXERUK Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Have a read of octets build thread, he has just had twins, 600+ I would think will need forged internals Quote
GMballistic Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 ^^ Definitely going to need a built motor for anywhere near 600hp. Ash's build thread (350Z TT) should be of interest to you. Link: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/78444-zed-tt-gets-a-tart-up/ 1 Quote
evilscorp Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 £15K+ and a lot of hassle and time if dealing with GetTheMoney Quote
the_doc Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Cheers so far everyone, I've got a bit of light reading by the looks of it. I know he's wanting it to look as standard as possible. Not too big of an ask with the position of the turbos etc. Would that be around the 15k mark with a built motor evilscorp? Quote
andlid Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Is this "friend" able to tinker himself or is it a shop going to do it all? Quote
the_doc Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 It's going to have to be a shop, probably somewhere in Scotland. My 'friend' may be buying my car. Quote
Grundy Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Cheers so far everyone, I've got a bit of light reading by the looks of it. I know he's wanting it to look as standard as possible. Not too big of an ask with the position of the turbos etc. Would that be around the 15k mark with a built motor evilscorp? This. Will cost Min £15k. Engine will need to be forged if you want to break 450+ bhp. So you're looking at 7/8k just in an engine build. Quote
the_doc Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Cheers Grundy. What are the weak areas on the zed engine when looking at big power? Quote
GMballistic Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 What are the weak areas on the zed engine when looking at big power? Believe the conrods will be the weakest link. You'll also want it to be a low compression ratio for an FI build. Here's an example of a built "off the shelf" short block engine; http://www.h-dev.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=78_169_293_472_1407&products_id=25108 But you'll also need to consider cams, head work & more. the_doc Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Cheers for that gmballistic. Do Horsham do custom turbo set ups to? Quote
planetsurfer2 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/57679-hookers-and-coke/ for the GTM experience. Still waiting for a £700 refund after 5 months. Quote
Grundy Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 +1 Conrods I think to achieve 600+ You need to pretty much up rate everything in the block. Quote
Ian Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 GTM suck. They are a bunch of cheats & liars Quote
Adrian@TORQEN Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/57679-hookers-and-coke/ for the GTM experience.Still waiting for a £700 refund after 5 months. You must be out of this world if you're waiting for refunds from GTM! Check MHI TT thread on 370z US forum. Quote
the_doc Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 I'll take it as the GTM route is a bad idea then. Can anyone recommend a company that will fab a decent kit? Quote
andlid Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 It's going to have to be a shop, probably somewhere in Scotland. My 'friend' may be buying my car. If shop built Im not sure 15k will be enough, he can give me an offer on mine 5k engine 8k turbo and the rest of bits needed 10k build... That looks like a good budget frame Quote
the_doc Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 What is your zed pushing atm if you don't mind me asking? Also which kit do you have? Quote
GMballistic Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Cheers for that gmballistic. Do Horsham do custom turbo set ups to? Jez is the man to answer that question. Horsham Developments are a registered trader on here so why not shoot them/Jez a PM to see what he can do for you within your budget. A9H-RX Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Easy 15k spend under the bonnet for forged TT conversion. Good luck finding a decent TT kit though Quote

If you read it though the guys only running on 440cc injectors and it isn't a built engine either. Definitely needs bigger injectors and with a good built engine could easily see some much bigger numbers imo. It would be a great starting point is what I'm getting at. Quote
