Ridz Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Cooling fan failure seems to be a common failure with Zeds. I was just wondering if there is an optimum time or mileage when these could be replaced with the Mishimoto units. It would be interesting if you could advise when you had to change or repair your fan units. I would have guessed that they would be good for around the 100,000 miles mark. Quote
ATTAK Z Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Some have failed earlier because they aren't used much but in my experience I had no problem up to 77,000 Quote
Randy_Baton Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 There have been load of threads about fan issues recently. maybe its a 10 year itch! I'm getting mine replaced soon, just short of 70k. Quote
Neilp Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) its a 2hr job to strip them out, repair them (free usually) and then refit. People are mental spending big money on new motors Edited September 10, 2014 by Neilp 1 Quote
Rock_Steady Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 looking at mine recently i'm now convinced the motor is fine. I think its the temp sensor. Quote
Neilp Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 how do you know the motor is fine? Its brushes that jam in the holder and lose contact with the commutator 1 Quote
Tricky-Ricky Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 looking at mine recently i'm now convinced the motor is fine. I think its the temp sensor. If the coolant temp sensor was faulty you would see a P1217 or P1218 fault code, fan switching is taken care of by the IPDM/relays. Quote
Toon Chris Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 165K and 10 years old and all is well on mine. For that matter its the original battery too. If it aint broke don't mess with it 1 Quote
JetSet Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) For that matter its the original battery too. That's the only part I've had to change on mine, lasted 2 and a half years . Pete Edited September 10, 2014 by JetSet Quote
