telf623 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Looked into hydro dipping but quite expensive, then looked into spraying the interior but primer, paint then laqure gets expensive so in the end bought 1mt by 1mt 4d carbon wrap for £10 and thought all have a crack then if I don't like it just peel off, here are the results (couple of creases but not bad for a first effort) Not as glossy as hydro dip but still better than the dull grey plastic not diy task alcantara dash lining 2 Quote
nex Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I like the hand holds etc. but I think I would stop there myself! nice job though! Quote
telf623 Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 That's where I started but quick way to cover scratches and scrapes Quote
brillomaster Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 nice one, centre console looks great. a square metre goes a long way it seems, a cheap but very impactful mod! 1 Quote
pjf1985 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Looks ace, nice effort bud. I can't decide on whether to get my bits dipped or not, wrapping is definitely the better value option. Quote
WINKJ Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 did you notice the weight saving in all of that carbon? ................. I joke I joke! looks really good 1 Quote
telf623 Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 Dipped defiantly looks better quality but wrapped it a lot cheaper and if carbon isn't your style just go gloss black or alcantara Quote
GMballistic Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 You should be pleased with that as it looks great especially the centre console. Think the hand brake handle is the only thing I wouldn't have done but if you're happy then that's all that matters. Quote
scobie140 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Good effort looks nice, Too fiddly for me I'd loose the head with it. I've still not got round to doing the roof and that should be easy to wrap, the wrap is still living in the spare room! Quote
14N Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Same as me. I started with the door pulls, then progressed to the centre console. Looks great, well done Quote
davedutch Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I disagree with gm on the. Handbrake lever but mainly cos mine is a mess and I need to do something with it. Great effort, let me know how you got on with the handbrake and how it lasts Quote
Rocky4510 Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Great job for first effort, looks wicked from the pics. Thinking of doing the same myself Quote
telf623 Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 That's why I did the handbrake cause it was all scuffed. I would defenlty attempt it your self its quite forgiving with heat Quote
gumpy000 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Just started the same! How did you remove the steering wheel parts? Do they just clip off like every other part? Quote
flyboy Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Just started the same! How did you remove the steering wheel parts? Do they just clip off like every other part? Wheel has to come off I think. Screwed on from the back. Quote
gumpy000 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Just started the same! How did you remove the steering wheel parts? Do they just clip off like every other part? Wheel has to come off I think. Screwed on from the back. Nope. Just clips off. Pics to follow. Lol Quote
14N Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Do they? Cool! I was under the impression the wheel needed to come off too. Quote
gumpy000 Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Well hope not lol. No mine just unclipped and have clipped them back on. They needed the trim tool as stiff but yea all good for me? Quote
14N Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Before I attack mine with a butter knife, have you got the volume and cruise controls on your steering wheel? 1 Quote
