Thanks all..... looking forward to getting this done!

Magic that! I'd love one of these but probably couldn't afford one now. Let us know when it goes up for sale, you never know....

Will do..... It should be getting MOTd by the end of the month, so will be within a few weeks of that. 240z is being dry fitted now, then paint, so its not too far off completion and I am only allowed to keep one.

Some news.... VAT has been paid :) and I am arranging collection for Thursday :) being delivered to Sly (who is going to service and MOT) and I will be there on Saturday afternoon to have a look at them :D

Doubt they will be ready to drive, especially on the road, but things are progressing!

Out of interest, how long were these at Sly's? I didn't realize it was forum member until just now. I drove over to Sly's for a service and while I was waiting, stumbled across these two parked up the side of the building. They looked lovely in person! :D

Not long.... blue one got sold off quickly and this one went to bodyshop.

Must've stopped over at just the right time. I remember arriving back in Luxembourg after seeing them and telling my old man about them. He used to own a Mk1 Cortina 1.6 twin cam back in the day! Then moved on to a Mk1 Escort, followed by the Capri 2.8 :D

Update:-

Unfortunately, its not good news.... the company I was using has been having problems over the last few months and has gone into liquidation. Such a shame has his bodywork skills were brilliant.

The good news, is that the car is being shipped to Sly today for him to finish. Im hoping the list to finish is short, but will see once Sly gets the car.

-wire in dash (maybe some dash and ignition parts) - new loom should be complete

-front brakes need attention

-new steering wheel required

-make it work ;)

-bumpers

-MOT

That isn't great news but thank goodness you didn't lose your car, ...I did hear years ago of a Jap car tuning garage going bust and apparently quite a few customers were at risk of losing their cars or did lose their cars. Obviously it was dodgy though.

I've heard nothing but good things about Sly so hopefully everything will be finished in short order and you can get to enjoy the car asap. :);)

A quick update.... the car has been finished and has been put into storage. Have finally come to "terms" with my ex and at the end of this month, I am taking ownership of this little thing biggrin.gif

Some minor jobs to do, change pedals, fix passenger door (that has stopped opening), maybe some front bumpers

Here are some quick pics of how she stands now!

Oh yes.... due an update! I received the V5 for this yesterday and a few weeks ago I changed the starter motor... she now starts perfectly, but idle needs a touch of adjustment. Other than that, she is sitting in the garage at my moms place. Tomorrow I will insure and take for a drive, once the weather clears a bit

Update time..... she is road legal and is running smile_new.gif

The day started quite badly, wouldnt idle and lost all power to start. But after a fuse replacement and fixing a lose connection, the beast runs..... and she runs well! Still need to sort the fuel gauge (doesnt read anything) and the speedo (it only reads 20mph), oh yes and the brakes because pulling on the steering wheel is more effective than pressing on the brake pedal....

Update:-

Well I broke it :( driving it back from Caffeine & Machine had some issues. Post failure, found low compression on cylinder 4, so took the decision that the pinto engine just wasnt up to the task. Queue the music ;)

Decide ZETEC 2l was a much better option, so a friend and I started doing some research and figured what could possibly go wrong. So I have bought a donor Ford Focus ST170, we have stripped both engines and gearboxes off the cars and ordered round 1 of 2 of parts for the conversion. Round 1 gets the and the new 5 speed gearbox into the car. Round 2 will get it running with the added benefit of throttlebodies.

Well, she officially lives and sounds pretty damn good on throttlebodies! Ok, the engine cover needs painting and the front fenders need their badges (had MEXICO badges, but removed them - have a set of ST170 badges to go on). Couple more things to do, mount ECU, hide some wires, make some gauges work, REMAP and thats about it.
