Gudzy Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I thought I'd post this up as there are quite a few knowledgeable people on here that might be able to help. A friend has a Honda S2000 which won't start once warm. If left for around half an hour to cool down it will start, but if needing to fill up at the petrol station it won't restart. Any ideas what could be causing it and anything he could test easily? Quote
Keyser Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 If its a stock motor I'd start at the plugs. If it's been modified I'd be looking at timing and or fueling Only Honda I ever owned was a motorbike though Quote
theheff Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) Some ideas here. http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/561386-car-wont-start-when-warm/ I typed s2000 won't start when warm/hot into google and got loads of hits Edited March 28, 2014 by theheff Quote
Gudzy Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Cheers, lots to look through there. Its a completely standard 04 plate that she's had from new. Quote
14N Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) I had a TT that did a similar thing - kept leaving me stranded at petrol stations as the engine was warm. So I killed it with fire and bought the Zed. But what it turned out to be before I did that was the coolant temperature sensor. My friend had a Passat that did the same. Seems to be a common problem (and cheap fix) for VAG cars. Not sure if it's the same with Honda, but worth a shot. EDIT: Or just do what theheff said Edited March 28, 2014 by 14N Quote
Ewen@Clark Motorsport Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Older Honda's used to suffer from dry joints in the fuel pump relay which were normally located in the drivers footwell. Not sure if its the same in the later Hondas but it would be worth a look. Ewen Quote

GT Driver Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Crank sensor? have no idea - but had a similar issue with an Alfa, used to cut out when warm and wouldn't start until cooled down a bit. Long shot.... Quote
