service used 10w40 - stated wanted 5w30

took 350Z GT4 to a Nissan dealer for a P2 service - stated wanted 5w30 in the block - they've still gone and put 10w40 in there

 

personally do a lot mileage - heard this viscosity can affect mpg and startup lubrication...

This with bells on. I'd speak directly to the Service Manager and tell him your not happy as you didn't get what you asked for.

So many main dealers seem to be using generic barrel oil to service everything that comes through their door, its poor though that you specifically asked for the correct oil and they still didnt use it.

 

As others have said get onto the service manager and tell him you want it changed, then find a good independent for your next service

You should always put the wright oil in the car that it was desined to use

Look at the service manual it print it out and show them what nissan say to put in it here's a link to it

Gawd what happened to the good old days of 20W/30, now that was an oil, at least you never heard any rattles and you could spread it on yer toast

For future reference, tell us where in the country you are someone should be able to recommend an independent or at worst a trusted Nissan Dealership. A lot of us buy our own oil from Opie or Clarks Motorsports and use an Independent for the service work. Hope you get it sorted.

Nothing wrong with 10W40, ran my VQ on it, a lot of the advocated 30W oils that the manufactures state are mainly down to emissions control, and as said we don't see the climate to need 5W.
