Daryl Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Looking for a new gear knob for the Zed. Hoping to have a nice round one, though a little hesitant on all metal, especially with winter almost here. Just hoping people could post some pictures of theirs and where they got it from. Quote
350 Russ Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) heres what i have, i know you said you don't want a fully metal one but i love my one. I found it on an Ebay auction for about £15 so I was well chuffed with that. It only takes a few minutes to get the chill from it on a cold morning. http://www.momo-uk.c...rshift-knob.htm Edited November 4, 2013 by 350 Russ Quote
coldel Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I went for a chunky momo combo - I wasnt a fan of the straight gear knobs, made hard work of shifting those clunky Zed boxes! 1 Quote
Humpy Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 My first knob was a KTA jobby and have to agree during winter time was not the best Now I have got a Nismo carbon fibre gear knob. Quote
Daryl Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Dont really like them Nismo style ones, i like something chunky to grab hold of. Does anyone with metals knobs have any issues on track days in the heat of the moment? Quote
GMballistic Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Dont really like them Nismo style ones, i like something chunky to grab hold of. Does anyone with metals knobs have any issues on track days in the heat of the moment? Sorry that just made me chuckle. Used to have an all metal round ball gear knob on a previous car & it never caused me any gear change issues when used in aggression ~ just very cold in the winter & too hot in the summer. Quote
Daryl Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Suppose it dont matter on track too much,as i tend to wear proper gloves anyway, so not so worried now. Do i just need to makesure that its a particular fitment? Quote
350 Russ Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 the momo one like mine is a generic one that has 3 grub screws so no thread worries. Quote
coldel Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Most are not screw ons and come with a number of rubber fitments that go inside the gear knob to secure it followed with the grub screws. Quote
Daryl Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Ah ok. Maybe i will stick to what iv got then, a i had one years ago, and it would fall off in your hand at the worst moment. Quote
Jay-350z Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Mines all metal, a tad different to the ones above. Quote
longsh07 Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Nismo carbon fibre knob - not the greatest picture ever. Dont really like them Nismo style ones, i like something chunky to grab hold of. Does anyone with metals knobs have any issues on track days in the heat of the moment? Not been on track with mine but never had any issues with my knob control when things get frisky. Quote
spursmaddave Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I had several knobs in my Zed, mostly at meets when they wanted to look at my LEDs or CF or listen to my ICE Sent from the golf club... Quote

Daryl Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Mines all metal, a tad different to the ones above. How on does that feel? Do you grab it at the top, or at the side? Cant imagine how driving with that could be comfortable Quote
ianphampton Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 My son made me a selection and I have these left over - the one I fitted looks like the one on the left. He spent ages polishing the one in the middle and tried to get me to use that - but I liked the satin finish better than the high gloss. I'm open to offers if anyone wants to PM me - the metal ones are 6082 Aluminium and the white one is Nylon Quote
Daryl Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Look sexual. Guessing your son works in a machine shop Quote
