N4eay Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Hi, has anyone thought about or installed an auto dimming mirror on their Z? Cheers Quote
Bagz Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Definitely thought about it, it feels archaic to have to flip a lever. 1 Quote
rtbiscuit Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Comes as standard on my ancient jag, also have the optional extra of auto dimming wing mirrors as well. Not bad for a 15 year old car  think there is one available in the USDM or JDM might be able to retro fit to a UKDM car Quote

You can buy aftermarket ones but its a headache to fit I'm sure I read. BUT do some research it might be pretty easy. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 If that's the case, I'm guessing you'll need to find a power slice, there is power up there but be careful not to blow the BCM. 1 Quote
The G Man Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 The Infiniti range, G37 etc have these as standard so I guess there is a way of doing it. Nissan missed a small trick in not puting these in the 350/370 range. The courtesy cars I've had from Infiniti have all had this and I found it a superb addition. Quote
spursmaddave Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I have auto dimming rear view mirror, auto dimming side mirrors, auto wipers, cornering headlights, corner lights, puddle lights, footwell lights, sill lights, auto open boot, heated and cooled seats and steering wheel to name but a few... Wayne370Z Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 I remember seeing a guide on a DIY fit of an auto dimming rear view mirror, think they used one from a BMW. Can`t find anything on here now so maybe it was on a US site. Quote

N4eay Posted September 27, 2013 Author Posted September 27, 2013 Cheers guys, yes have had a trawl on the net and found some info, mostly American. Just wondered if anyone on here had tried it. Yep, Nissan should have really added one of these as standard. Coming from a range of BMW's over the last 7 years, so getting use to the certain kit difference. Was please to see that the Z has heated and folding wing mirrors though! Plus every time I turn the key it makes me smile. 1 Quote
RDON Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 yeah there is a thread on the American 350z forum for the auto mirror. Quote
wmr1980 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 It's the one thing I miss from my previous cars, such a simple modcon surprised it isn't there by default. Quote
14N Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I have an auto tint rear view mirror. If a car is behind me with full beam on, it just looks like they have sidelights on. Oh, hold on, that might be something to do with my dark tinted rear window. Quote
M13KYF Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I thought someone had a look at this before on a UK car and failed to do it Quote
tjstr Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Not sure if this will work but hopefully gives a link to a previous thread which contains another link to a thread where someone did it.... Still dimming manually myself but do miss this...my old Jag S Type R had it....and a lovely heated windscreen. http://www.350z-uk.com/index.php?/topic/65133-Autodim-Mirror-Mod%2E%2E%2E-350z Quote
