Auto dimming rear mirror

Hi, has anyone thought about or installed an auto dimming mirror on their Z?

Definitely thought about it, it feels archaic to have to flip a lever.

Comes as standard on my ancient jag, also have the optional extra of auto dimming wing mirrors as well. Not bad for a 15 year old car :grin: think there is one available in the USDM or JDM might be able to retro fit to a UKDM car

Not JDM.

 

You can buy aftermarket ones but its a headache to fit I'm sure I read.

 

BUT do some research it might be pretty easy.

If that's the case, I'm guessing you'll need to find a power slice, there is power up there but be careful not to blow the BCM.

The Infiniti range, G37 etc have these as standard so I guess there is a way of doing it. Nissan missed a small trick in not puting these in the 350/370 range. The courtesy cars I've had from Infiniti have all had this and I found it a superb addition.

Cheers guys, yes have had a trawl on the net and found some info, mostly American. Just wondered if anyone on here had tried it. Yep, Nissan should have really added one of these as standard. Coming from a range of BMW's over the last 7 years, so getting use to the certain kit difference. Was please to see that the Z has heated and folding wing mirrors though! Plus every time I turn the key it makes me smile.

yeah there is a thread on the American 350z forum for the auto mirror.

It's the one thing I miss from my previous cars, such a simple modcon surprised it isn't there by default.

I have an auto tint rear view mirror. If a car is behind me with full beam on, it just looks like they have sidelights on.

 

Oh, hold on, that might be something to do with my dark tinted rear window.

Not sure if this will work but hopefully gives a link to a previous thread which contains another link to a thread where someone did it.... Still dimming manually myself but do miss this...my old Jag S Type R had it....and a lovely heated windscreen.
