What i really cant believe is why those spectators didn't rush to help. Their first instynct is to stand around and check their phones, either texting or getting ready to take a photo. I'd like to think i'd be diving in there to help.

That is horrible. It would seem that "reaching for your smartphone" seems the current way of reacting to any unforeseen incident.

Yes, of course. I didn't mean that. I meant how people react when something has happened (i.e.. did I get a good shot) rather than.. there are some people in a car in the water who might be drowning.

I think at events like this the spectators assume there will be marhsalls etc who are far more experienced at dealing with this kind of thing. Untrained people trying to help are more likely to be a hinderance, although if there was no marshalls reacting I'd probably jump in after about 30 seconds.

Wow- a car then an aircraft then a submarine- versatile vehicles those Porkers. Seriously though hope the guys got away both physically and mentally as it can't be nice being upside down in water with a six point harness to undo.
