Another rays refurb idea thread

I'm going to get my rays refurbed and spaced in the next few weeks. I'm having gunmetal as I think it looks good against the azure. However I'm toying with the idea of a blue lip. So lets have a few opinions on a VERY quick photoshop I knocked up.

Just gun metal:

With the lip:

Don't know of this is a forum members car?

The more I look at it the more I don't like it. Maybe the right shade of blue could look better.

@wasso: I thought I recognised it ;)

I've got some wider angled shots if you want to play around?

That's what I did when I played around with brake caliper colours.

Thanks wasso, I may have a look.

Ebized, I agree it would be too much with the nuts added on, I would leave them silver.

Another very sloppy photoshop with a thinner line. More like a pinstripe.

I don't think the blue lip works and I always feel its a shame when the nuts clash - too much going on. Would be helped if the Brembos were in matching blue - see glrnet's and spursmaddave's Azures ;)

It's called fashion Colin

My nuts will be red soon to match my calipers in due course just for you. ;)

The best thing to do is if you are unsure just have them refurbed and painted gunmetal. Get the stripe in vinyl as a taster to see what it will look like then if you are happy with it have it pinstriped in the correct colour and size. That way if you don't like it just peel it off. A bit of messing around but would solve your problem

That's a good idea. Might have a play. But otherwise I'll still go for the gunmetal finish.

I agree with Colin (must be getting old) more than 2 colours on a wheel looks awful!

I've always thought that to be honest. Just playing with ideas.

I was gonna suggest coloured rim protectors.

They sold them at the wheel specialist where i got my wheels done and thought about getting orange ones if they were a close enough match to my calipers to go with my gun metal wheels.

a vinyl stripe will be your best bet, cheap and temporary.

I'm surprised your nuts are still serviceable after your recent comment to me ;):p
