The Bounty Bar Kid Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Just saw this and saw it in HFR 3D. HFR stands for High Frame Rate. Basically normal films in the cinema run at 24frames per second. This ran at 48fps. Hated it. Ruined film partially. My advice, don't watch it in this if given the chance! Quote
spursmaddave Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Sometimes something isn't changed because it is better that way.... How was the film, I would say don't include spoliers but if anybody hasn't read the book Quote
Will370z Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Ive heard its making some of the audience feel very sick too. Must admit not a fan of 3d in films, its just gimicky and often makes the film look tacky. Loved avatar, everything else.....ummmmmm Quote
spursmaddave Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Never seen a film in 3D and don't want to, it made my head hurt watching football for 10 minutes in 3D Quote
DoogyRev Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Never seen a film in 3D and don't want to, it made my head hurt watching football for 10 minutes in 3D +1 I agree with Dave Anyway, I hate the cinema, full of other people Quote

Will370z Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) Yeah thats the problem with cinemas, too many other people making too much noise. I remember years ago getting two young kids thrown out of the cinema and cars 2 because they kept talking constantly. Bless em Edited December 14, 2012 by Will370z Quote
spursmaddave Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I'm thinking of going on Christmas Eve while everyone else either shopping or getting drunk Quote
DoogyRev Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 And to be honest, the Cinema is a right rip off, would rather buy 4 Blu-rays Quote

Dblock Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Just saw this and saw it in HFR 3D. HFR stands for High Frame Rate. Basically normal films in the cinema run at 24frames per second. This ran at 48fps. Hated it. Ruined film partially. My advice, don't watch it in this if given the chance! I thought the higher frame rate would make it less jerky and better? Agreed I watched Avatar in 3d and loved in. I watched another film the immortals I think? 3d wasnt great although I saw Freida Pinto's bum in 3d Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted December 15, 2012 Author Posted December 15, 2012 It wasn't the 3D that made it bad, it was the hfr. Would give the film 3/5. Slow at first. Quote
Chris`I Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Anyway, I hate the cinema, full of other people Always welcome round ours Jim - its why we have a HD projector and 75" screen HFR like 3D will end up becoming defacto whether you like it or not. In principal it should make it better. What makes me laugh about gimmiks are these people that have 100+Hz screens when broadcasts are in 24Hz! With higher frame rates panning and action should be smoother and look nicer. The problem is for many years we've been used to 24 so doubling it is too much for most to take in a single jump. Quote
DoogyRev Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Anyway, I hate the cinema, full of other people Always welcome round ours Jim - its why we have a HD projector and 75" screen Now that would be an expensive trip to the Cinema Quote
bronzee Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Really looking forward to seeing this. The book was fabulous and Peter Jackson is very clever and being a Kiwi, just support the film. Lol, no I didn't get to go to the global pre-release party over here. Quote
spursmaddave Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Always welcome round ours Jim - its why we have a HD projector and 75" screen Yes but the only copy of the film you are likely to have would be a wobby cam version filmed in 480p which would look like Lego Hobbitt Quote

neo Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Seen the film yesterday, sure it's a little slow in places, the time still flew by, very surprised how funny it was, much more light hearted than lord of the rings. ( don't kill me but i've never read any of the books ) can't wait for the next instalment now Quote
ioneabee Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I've never read them either (which is strange as I'm a sci-fi and fantasy fiction) would it be preferable to have at least seen the lord of the rings trilogy films first - I don't know which order this is in ? Quote
