Pnthrblkzs Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Because I have an obsession with tidying things I need a bit of advice on some chips I have on 1 of my orange Brembo rear calipers. Has anyone ever had anything like this in the past? Can anyone offer any ideas on touching this in? I guess it's some sort of ceramic coating but I haven't properly inspected it yet, Ideally I don't want to replace the caliper and am looking for a budget solution to repair it. I'm going to a wheel refurbishers on Monday for my wheels, could they do some sort of powdercoating smart repair? Thanks, jon Quote

MITZ@CougarStore Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Humbrol paint No.54 is an exact match for the Brembo Gold caliper paint Agreed, It's a good match for the original Brembo paint... Quote
Pnthrblkzs Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Thanks all, I'll get ordering. Quote
glrnet Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Yep, worked for me when before my Brembo's went Azure Check out your local model shop. Quote
samsniss350z Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Use the Humbrol #54 paint and instead of using a paintbrush use a cocktail stick, you'll have far more control using this method plus you won'y end up overloading the cocktail stick as you would if you were to use a brush. I used this method on my front callipers and am chuffed to bits with the result as you can't see where the original chip was after i built up the paint in layers using the cocktail stick. Good Luck. Pnthrblkzs Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Thanks, that's exactly what I started to do. It's difficult to do with the calipers still being on the car and the bad weather. I started to do it using the cocktail stick method and will finish it when the weather is dryer and warm. Quote
ZEUS Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I bought the humbrol no54 paint to touch up the chips on my brembos and it's nothing like the same colour. It's a lot darker than the gold on my calipers which are the original factory colour. Anyway it actually looked worse than the chips when I'd finished so I bought the honda inca pearl touch up and that's a much better match Quote
glrnet Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 That's worth knowing ^. Maybe the Humbrol paint has changed, it was a pretty good match on mine before I changed colour, probably nearly 2 years ago though Quote
ZEUS Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I wondered if Nissan changed the caliper colour slightly on later models as mine is an early zed (53 plate) Quote
glrnet Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Mine is a November 04 car so I suppose that is a possibility. Quote
HAMLNJ Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I'd like to paint them a dark red. Or brembo red. They are chipped and always liked red on black. Although every time in see red callipers it's on an s reg saxso/corser. Quote
ZEUS Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I wanted mine red but I can't be bothered with the hassle of taking them off to get painted so I opted for just touching them up Quote
sipar69 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Anyone know the right colour for the red callipers on the 370? They seem quite prone to chips and the best I've been able to do in the past is get a touch up kit with a similar colour and then mix it with the darker primer to get a suitable shade. It's not ideal though - be great if anyone knows the right colour for them. Quote
cs2000 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I wondered if Nissan changed the caliper colour slightly on later models as mine is an early zed (53 plate) Mines an 04 GT too, the Humbrol paint went on dark but matched pretty good in the end after it dried. Quote
WhackyWill Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Just got a pot of this Humbrol Enamel 54 matches mine on my 06 DE also my wheels where I lightly curbed them. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230855808397?var=530080169277&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Quote

Mine was the opposite , it got darker as it dried. Looked a right mess! Very strange, maybe I got a duff pot of paint or I'm just too critical as I work with paint everyday (almost everyday ) . Anyway sorted now as the honda touch up was a better match Quote
