downhuman Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 So, thought I'd try the supersports following review reading . Got 4 in oem sizes from ats for £850 fitted. 2% cash back through topcashback and a £50 fuel card through ats promotion too. Bargain Quote
Dblock Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Good man. I'd go for 40 profile personally but its all the same Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 They are lovely! So planted! Quote
downhuman Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 Went OEM spec 245 45 18 and 225 45 18 respectively New car to me, so don't know the 'difference' in handling yet On 3 year old RE050's currently on the legal limit (ish) Quote
theheff Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Awesome tires mate, mine are just about worn in. Since having them though they have always felt so planted and fill me with confidence. The falkens i had before always felt like they could give at any minute when pushed a little. Quote
thetranquilbass Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Good tires, as other have said very well planted, however my rears only lasted 7,500 miles Quote

downhuman Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 ATS out of stock... so event tyres fitted Friday for same price. Factor in the £50 michelin fuel card and I'm happy Quote
Ebized Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012  Whats wrong with mixed tyres? it You are too cynical Jay, simply means that his shares in Michelin will be worth more Quote
Paddy78 Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Good man. I'd go for 40 profile personally but its all the same What would be the advantage of going for a lower profile? Would this not affect the gearing as this is slightly smaller than stock (Although minimal I know)? Quote
Ekona Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Usually it's because the tyres you want aren't available in the stock sizes, the obvious one being the R888 so by dropping down a profile you gain access to more tyres. Given that the MPSS are available in the proper sizes though, there's no benefit. Some cars seem to hate dropping down to 40 profile and the TCS throws a hissy fit, some seem not to care at all. I personally suspect that it;s 99% down to the driver rather than the tyres, but have no proof of that other than my own experience. Quote
370Ad Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 45 is definitely the way to go, 40's look lost under the arches if anything! Quote
Dblock Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 45 is definitely the way to go, 40's look lost under the arches if anything! Are you lowered? 40's have a much much greater choice of tyres. They make the car sit a fair bit closer to the ground. They also look 1million times better than the balloon tyres. There is also slightly less "squirm" from them which gives you more confidence. I also find them more responsive maybe as they are slightly lighter? Quote
370Ad Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Yeah i am lowered but saw a few at Japfest on 40's running standard suspension and the arch gap was quite noticeable. I agree as far as tyre looks go the 245/45's on the back are pretty fat! That's why i choose 19's best of both worlds! Quote

Even my mum said have you got bigger wheels for the car? I prefer 40's but yeah 19's are win. Quote
glrnet Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 This thread gets the Ekona Seal Of Approval  Whats wrong with mixed tyres? It's fine as long as you don't have one make of tyre on the front and another make of tire on the rear Quote
Ekona Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 ARGH STOP MIXING YOUR TYRES/TIRES YOU LOT!!!11 Quote
Darren-B Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 I just fitted my set of super sports on the weekend. Only driven it in the wet & they are outstanding. Great feedback & drip, they almost take everything in 3rd Quote
