smudgedon Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Don't think it's much cause for concern, but when turning the engine off there's a distinct rattle rather then the engine just stopping Anything I should check over? Car was only serviced 4 weeks ago when purchased Quote

Car was only serviced 4 weeks ago when purchased Mine has always had a tiny rattle at the end when I turn off the engine, never had any problems in the last 4 years of owning her Quote
Lexx Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Depends where the rattle is coming from really......soem more info might be useful here Quote
msisleman Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 AC compressor most probably. Try shutting your engine off with AC switched off. Mine rattles when its on, so does a friend of mines Zed. Quote
Dblock Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Depends where the rattle is coming from really......soem more info might be useful here +1. Could be interior, heatsheilds, engine coming to rest, exhaust, fans or 100 different things. Quote
theheff Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Try pushing the clutch in when you turn it off next time. Quote
ChrisS Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 DMF Duel Mass Flywheel? Spoil sport was waiting for the question. Quote
tez162003 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I always wondered what the bloody noise was, will try pressing the clutch in next time. Quote
sparky370z Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 yup mine did this!! was diagnosed as the DMF. why does it do it? Quote
BulletMagnet Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 yup mine did this!! was diagnosed as the DMF. why does it do it? When a skinny guy suddenly stops running, no fat wobbles about. When a fat guy suddenly stops running, the fat wobbles as aftershock. Not called dual mass for nothing Quote
smudgedon Posted August 2, 2012 Author Posted August 2, 2012 Thanks guys Ye defo sounds like some sort of drivetrain noise but from the engine bay, so dmf would make sense. Just another trait of the zed I take it? Quote
msisleman Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 That poo poo'd on my theory! Interesting. Quote
smudgedon Posted August 2, 2012 Author Posted August 2, 2012 Yep clutch down stops it happening. Cheers guys Quote
