Ricey Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 250 quid to buy Nearly 600 quid in transfer fees! Quote
Ricey Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 Im missing a white one and a full set of plates actually! Ramraid somewhere! Quote
rtbiscuit Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 is this because you don't keep a car long, or is it that expensive to transfer plates? Quote
Ricey Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 is this because you don't keep a car long, or is it that expensive to transfer plates? 105 squid to put on retention.......6 cars in 6 years doesn't help! Quote
HaydnH Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 £80 for a direct transfer: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/motoring/pe ... dg_4022576 Quote
Ricey Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 I know but it's nigh on impossible to do that as you need the v5 to sell or part ex your old car......basically unless you own both (or dealer is happy to wait for v5) then you have to put on retention Quote
captain Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 250 quid to buy Nearly 600 quid in transfer fees! Has Ricey only got one leg? Quote
Lexx Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Sh**, that reminds me, mins due for renewal on retention next month. Maybe I'll just stick it on the Honda for the time being since I've already paid for that. Quote
Dblock Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I actually saw R111 CEY today but I was driving so couldn't take a picture. Quote
Paddy78 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Is it just a one-off transfer fee or do you have to pay yearly as well? Quote
Ricey Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 Is it just a one-off transfer fee or do you have to pay yearly as well? I think you have to pay an annual fee to renew as well! No where near as much as the initial fee. Plus it's 30 quid for every set of plates! Quote
Lexx Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Yup, you have to renew every year. It's cheaper than the initial fee because the initial one includes the transfer fee. Quote
Tarmac@TarmacSportz Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I've had mine four years and I don't recall being asked to pay a renewal fee ?? Quote
coldel Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 As I understood it on retention you are meant to pay an annual fee, on the car not. Quote
Sarnie Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 You only pay an annual fee if your plate is on retention. If it's on your car then you don't ay an annual fee. Quote
p40ulw Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 plus if you think you are going to have it on retention for more than a year and up to 3 you get a reduced rate for the retention fees! anyway i love my reg (it was a leaving present from the lads i was in the army with) and i dont care how much it costs to keep and enjoy! its the cost of looking cool! Vik54 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Awh FFS.... been meaning to start this process for Saffy's plate... its going to be a headache isn't it? No point in putting it on the Astra because I doubt the Astra will last another year... fecking outrageous the amount you have to pay for retention though!! Quote

No point in putting it on the Astra because I doubt the Astra will last another year... fecking outrageous the amount you have to pay for retention though!! To be fair Vik its only 25 squid more to put on retention rather than straight transfer so you might as well leave it off the astra.........otherwise you'll be paying another 85 quid when you get a new car. glrnet Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 You'll just have to keep Saffy then Awh FFS.... been meaning to start this process for Saffy's plate... its going to be a headache isn't it?
