Can anyone recommend a good all round speed camera detector. Been looking on snooper site and a decent one seems to be the evolution at £139 but they do a cheaper one and I can't tell the difference between them apart from one speaks and one beeps! Its for hubbies birthday.

I use my eyes :teeth: In Ireland there's about 12 fixed speed cameras but only 3 acutal cameras which they rotate round the 12. There's also the odd van with camera in the back and of course cops on the side of the road. All stand out like a sore thumb which is why I've never received a ticket or points.

In a year or two they will be privatising speed cameras in Ireland. My eyes wont be good enough anymore so I will most likely go with a Valentine One. Had one in the US for a month. 10k miles - no tickets. Saved me on many occasions.

What's odd about the van containing the camera?

Depends how much you want to spend. None of them will tell you they detect ALL cameras but you can get something that will detect most hand held, mobile and static cameras although from what I've read it's hard to detect a laser until it's actually hit you unless it picks up the signal as it's bouncing off another car nearby. It's an aid to be used in conjunction with your eyes I suppose.

My wife bought us (me) a Mio Digiwalker C510 for Christmas. It sits very nicely in the cubby and receives the signal very well. I don't have to use it vey much but I have been very pleased with its accuracy so far. It has audible and visible alerts for speed cameras.

It comes with a cradle mount which normally attaches to the rubber sucker arm to the windscreen. I have attached the mount to the floor of the cubby with a couple of small screws and the unit just pops in and out when I need to use it. It means I (we) can use it in my wife's car as well. :DB)

I have not attempted to hard wire the power supply for it, mainly because the power socket behind the driver's seat is not working and I have not been able to trace the fault. However, the battery life is around 8 hours so it has not been a problem so far.

Hi All,

I've got a Micro Fuzion detector(£99), it detects nearly all types of cameras-so it says in the handbook ;) I got it from an A1 Autoshop, couldn't find it anywhere else, after checking it out on its website.

It fits to a small magnetic mount that you can fit on your dash, I've got mine next to the voltmeter and plugged into the powerpoint below the cup holder!

It's not as intrusive as a SatNav and has a soft female voice to warn you!! dribble etc

Sorry but not sure.

As I have it running on an IPaq, try mailing them at CheckPOInt@OABsoftware.nl to see, but looks like is Nav only.

Others, like this site, its free and better than nothing.

Just use any of the free overlays / POI for TomTom.

Works for me.

does it work with the TOMTOM Go?? the site only mentions the Navigator software...

wait for the new escort passport 9500 (i think) to come out . Has passive detection same as something like a valentine one, and also a GPS antenna so you can 'teach' it where false alarms are and it wont go off next time round. Its been tested on radar roys site and had mega thumbs up. Remebers the GPS location, frequency and number of bogeys, so if next time round theres a legitimate threat it will still go off. You can also teach it static locations.

Far better than a road angel if you ask me as they even have the duff (empty) cameras programmed into them, and theres no way of telling if they are fake or not. . . . . .

but, obviously i slow down anyway as they are all so strategically positioned in accicent blackspots and never just at random. . .(?) , it would be unethical to speed through such zones.
