  1. Hi Had both my front bearings replaced a few months ago. I have a 53 JDM and the bearings of UK 350z are exactly the same as my JDM, not to sure about the 52, but I'd say they are the same. Dealer added an extra £30 per bearing when my garage ordered them saying they had to be imported! I told the my garage to check the item number they had on the packaging and this number was the same as UK item number for bearings. Guys at garage I use rang dealer and told them they wanted the £60 (30 each) as they were not imported at all and were in fact the UK bearings. Dealer had the cheek to say that, because my car is an import, they can charge what they like!! Needless to say, my garage got their money back after they said they'd get in touch with Nissan GB! If I were you I'd try and find the item number for bearings on your 52 model and check it against the UK version. I'm sure you'll find they are the same. Dont let the dealer get away with charging you more just because you have an import. Cheers Josh
  2. You might want to try the Road Pilot. http://www.roadpilot.com/roadpilot.asp I have the RoadPilot Micro mounted on the dash to the righthand side of my steering wheel. Its very small and unobtusive.
  3. Yep Thats right Rob, complete assembly. Josh
  4. Well, just rang a few Nissan Parts departments this morning and it seems the price is correct!!! Part No. 40202AL510 (UK Model) - £190.81 incl. VAT Still not sure if JDM is different to UK though. Cheers Josh
  5. Cheers Guys Looks like I'll have to do some ringing around this weekend. Josh
  6. Hi Just took my 2003 import in for it's first MOT today. Unfortunately it failed due to excessive play on the front off side wheel bearing. Anyway, I decided I may as well have both FNS and FOS replaced at the same time. (would be just my luck if the near side went in a few months!!) The Garage phoned Nissan to order the bearings in, and guess what?, as soon as he mentioned it's an Import the guy from Nissan gave a sharp intake of breath!! I'm being told the bearings cannot be adjusted/tightened and a whole wheel hub unit has to be replaced. Is this correct? Does anyone know if there is a difference between the UK and JDM spec bearings? the guy from Nissan says they are slightly different and says he can source the JDM type but are £50.00 more!! £250 each as apposed to £200 each. I find it funny, having dealt with Nissan dealers before, that this guy can source Japanese parts so quickly. Is anyone else as cynical as me and thinks this guy is just trying to make a quick buck? or are the bearings for UK and JDM different? The parts are being delivered Tuesday and would be good to be able to inform my garage before they arrive, if there is no difference at least they can try and get them at the cheaper price for me. Any help would be much appeciated. Cheers Josh
  7. Hi I have a 2003 JDM and have been told by several dealers that they cannot read anything off my car with the consult II software they have because it only read european models!! Can anyone tell me if this is true and has anyone with a JDM been able to find a dealer that can reset error codes. My particular problem is my immobiliser has thrown up an error and the red LED on the dash that flashes to show the immobiliser is set now stays on constantly. The car starts perfectly and there is no malfunction (apart from the LED!!) From reading the maintenance manual (US Spec I think), it seems this can happen with the NATS. I can find one error - Chain of ECM-IMMU code P1612. The manual says:- Communication impossible between ECM and BCM (NATS control unit)In rare case, “CHAIN OF ECM-IMMUâ€
  8. Hi all I was hoping someone would be able to list what is actually carried out during a P1, P2 and P3 Service. My JDM is due for a P2 service and was hoping to use my friendly independent garage rather than a main dealer and wanted to tell him what Nissan would provide at each service interval. I have tried searching without much luck, so it anyone could list the relevant items performed in each service I would be grateful. Cheers Josh
  9. Hi Andy Yes it is just an Immobiliser, as far as I know!!. Is there a way to bypass the NATS then and still have no problems starting the car? I just assumed that it was all linked back to the ECU, if you don't have the key or NATS malfunctions, the car won't start. Like you say, there is no real need to have the factory immobiliser, I just didn't realise there was a way to bypass it without having problems reading the key to start the car. cheers
  10. Andy Not sure I can just get rid of factory immobiliser!! Isn't all the immobiliser/security linked via the chip in the Key? NATS system. The LED being on continuously indicates a malfunction in the NATS system, as you say, it could be something and nothing. The Clifford Alarm I have fitted does include an immobilser. Cheers Josh
  11. Cheers Andy Yeah, the Clifford has a seperate LED, all seems to be working fine with the alarm system! I spoke to the guy from Clifford that fitted my alarm this morning and he said the only way the immobiliser LED staying on would have anything to do with the Clifford Alarm is if I had Remote Start fitted (which I don't). It definately seems a problem with the cars immobiliser. As I say, it's not a great problem having the LED stay on, just worried that one day the system wont read the key. Do you think I should disconnect the battery? this may reset the ECU / Immobiliser. Josh
  12. Hi Was hoping someone might be able to help me with a strange problem that began tonight. After getting into my car tonight (JDM), I noticed the immobiliser LED was on constantly and stayed on, even when the car was started. It is still on solid now, not flashing as it usually does. Having realised about six month ago that being an import, it didn't have an alarm, I had a Clifford Intelliguard 950 alarm system fitted. Up until now the red LED on the dashboard flashed whenever the car was turned off. Having read a PDF version of the handbook (US Version I think), although I assume this is generic for a 350z's, it says: Security indicator light This light blinks whenever the ignition switch is in the LOCK, OFF or ACC position. This function indicates the security system equipped on the vehicle is operational. If the Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System is malfunctioning, this light will remain on while the ignition key is in the ON position. If the light still remains on and/or the engine will not start, see your NISSAN dealer for Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System service as soon as possible. Please bring all Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System keys that you have when visiting your NISSAN dealer for service. I have no problem starting the car and I assumed having the alarm system (which includes an immobiliser) fitted this by-passed the factory immobiliser. Can anyone shed any light on this problem? is there any way to reset the immobiliser? and probably more important, will it progress to a point where I will not be able to start the car? I was going to have the car serviced in the next couple of weeks anyway, so can get them to look at it, but would anyone know if I should get it seen too sooner? I'm assuming the LED doesn't draw that much current, so won't have a flat battery in the near future. But its just a bit annoying having a Red light reflexing on the windscreen in the dark. Any help would be much appreciated, especially if anyone knows of a way to reset the immobiliser. Cheers Josh.

    Security

Hi All Just thought I'd ask some advise. I will be going on holiday soon and am getting paranoid about my Z sitting on the drive all alone! I wanted to be extra sure it's waiting for me when I get home and was wondering if anyone has any advise as to how I can make it extra secure. I do have a Thatcham approved alarm and immobiliser system fitted and will be leaving the keys at another address, but is there anything else I can do? Was thinking of disconnecting something within the engine bay, any ideas? Any reasonable suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers.
