    New Brakes

Hi All, Just fitted new Discs and Pads to my Zed, Stop Techs (Thanks Adrian at Torqen). All went surprisingly easy apart from the front pads that didn't want to slide out! Had to wait till I removed the caliper then got them out by pulling them from the rear. Had to skim the top and bottom of the new pads to fit them. Anyway, anyone in the Portsmouth/Waterlooville area who needs to work on their car and doesn't have a garage I can recommend http://www.autobarnmotorservices.co.uk/ , they have a vehicle lift which is available to hire so you can diy without crawling on the floor! The lads there are helpful and will lend you tools etc ( I borrowed a Torque Wrench for the caliper bolts, 22mm front 19mm rear).
  2. Thanks, I'll look at some wobble sockets! cs2000 thanks, but I'm in Hampshire!
  3. Hello, Tried to replace the covers at the weekend, but couldn't get to bolt 7 on the rear of the covers! Presume that I will need a flexible extension bar, can anyone recommend a suitable item that would be able to handle the torque required. Many Thanks
  4. Hello, it was me! Only seen a handful of Zeds on the morning scrum on the M27. Standard Zed with Scorpion cat back!
  5. Got some Front Ferodo Pads, very quick delivery. Many thanks Ewen
  6. Took my aged (2004) Zed to Abbey for it's 108K P3 and clutch change-Exedy + Lightweight Flywheel. All the parts were supplied by Alex/Clark Motorsport During the service found out that one of the rear droplinks was missing! Luckily they had some in stock so all's OK. Very pleased with the work, car feels like it's had a new lease of life!!
  7. Received a box of bits today, clutch kit/Flywheel/Plugs/Belts and a few ancills! Top service from Ewan Ready for a trip to Abbey on Monday. Many Thanks
  8. I also have a spider living in the wing mirror, they must be optional extras that Nissan didn't mention in their ads! Seen mine hanging onto it's web while I'm doing 70 down the A3!! (I think it was wearing goggles)
  9. Hello, It was me!! Chili Fiesta was good, hottest sauce I tried was called 'Satans @*!#' made me weep!! Bog roll was put in the fridge the day before
  10. Just had my renewal come through from Admiral, £8 cheaper than last year!!
  11. Hello, 35psi seems to be the norm. I've had my tyres filled with nitrogen, so hopefully the pressure will stay steady for at least 6 months with no need for topping up!!! (s'wat the garage said).
  12. Just had a P2 with plug change at Nistec in Portsmouth, £190. They are a couple of ex Nissan Techs made redundant and set up on their own. V good and interested in what they do.
  13. Hello All, Just an update on the ticking noise from my engine. The Z is in the garage and the problem is a valve bucket, the hardened centre has failed creating a gap between it and the valve stem, causing the noise. The technician says that he has never seen this problem before, so I think that I am lucky to have a bucket that missed the quality control at Renault or whoever made the engine!! Anyway, the replacement parts are on order (from Europe) so hopefully I'll have my car back next week. The cost will be around £1000 but hopefully the warranty company will cover this BTW the Z is a UK 04 GT on 49000m!

    Scorpion Exhaust

Hi, I forgot, I also had to remove this right hand bracket/plastic cover to fit the back box on! No idea what it is for, but I suppose the car is lighter now!!

    Scorpion Exhaust

Hi All, Just had a Scorpion Exhaust fitted, and unfortunately it was a pain!! The mid pipe was straight and butted up against the rear diff. The origional pipe has a bend in it to compensate for this. Luckily I took the Zed to Fastfit in Basingstoke who make their own custom exhausts, the technician there,Matt, made a plug out of thicker gauge steel and was able to get the exhaust all lined up! What I thought was going to be a 30 min job took about 2 hrs!! Will E-mail Scorpion with my thoughts though. I know some of you have had Scorpions fitted with no problems, I suppose I'm just lucky!! Just glad I didn't decide to do it DIY, I would still be swearing at it now
