AK350Z Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Its February, its freezing outside, and the weathers balls. What can you do? Go Camping! An overnight trip around the Scafell massif, starting in Eskdale at the bottom of Hardknott pass, then heading up over Great Moss beneath Scafell. Climbed up to Eskdale Hause and then dropped down slightly to Sprinkling Tarn to find a likely looking camp site. Shall we camp on an island in the middle of a frozen tarn? Why not! More wilderness today on the way back to the walk end and the Pub! Quote
Will370z Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Somehow after seeing you go swimming in the sea off the north coast on the hoon i am not suprised by this lol. Great photos, bet the pub and that pint felt lovely when you got in there. Quote
Chris`I Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Is that why you didnt email me back mate? Quote
AK350Z Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 Is that why you didnt email me back mate? Yeah, something like that. Not even a phone signal where we were. After we set up camp, we watched people winter climbing on Great End. Quote
ianphampton Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Brilliant, looked gorgeous, and I'm jealous of you and your trip Sort of like "Ice Cold in Alex" only the other way round - maybe "Mulled Cider in Kendal" is the inverted scenario Quote
bronzee Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Not many people can say they've camped on the middle of a frozen tarn. At least you're making the most of the current conditions rather than hiding from them. Quote
Jay Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Looks fantastic....... but Andy your mental Quote
glrnet Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Conversation in Andy's house regarding walks goes something like this:- "Fancy going out for a walk dear!!? Oooo that sounds like a good idea, where to? Oh nothing much, I thought we'd just start in Eskdale at the bottom of Hardknott pass, then head up over Great Moss beneath Scafell. Climb up to Eskdale Hause and then drop down slightly to Sprinkling Tarn to find a likely looking camp site. Oh ok then" I love it Like Will I am not at all surprised Quote

I went with Ian, one of my mates from the running club. Do you think Fran would be daft enough to go on a trip like this? She's far to sensible! Quote
