erm to be honest its a completly different drive !!!

The handling is so responsive and the power gets to the wheels so fast its like your stuck to the road !!

It deffo makes you tempted !!

Only one thing that puts ya off is its still a focus :scare:

But a fookin quick one at that

I like but too much money for what you get. Should have been made 4 wheel drive also. My mate has one and can't put the power down wen it's damp. The zeds still faster in a straight line, don't know about corners as on top gear, jeremy clarksons face distorted before it went wide.

It's technically slower than a Zed 0-60

I guess it's the excitement of having the power and steering through the front wheels that makes it more interesting/demanding?

I'd still have the Zed, and it really is still only a focus. Scooby or Mits would be another alternative, although I do like the wide open mouth of the focus, ready to eat up small children!!

I have had the privalige of owning a Mk1 RS and have taken the Mk2 for a test drive when mine was being serviced. To compare the 2 cars i was mildly disappointed with the Mk2 it did not move the game on as much as i was kind of hoping.

As soon as i started driving the Mk2 it was like someone had put an extra sumo wrestler in the car, it felt heavy. Very grippy at the same time mind. The Mk2 shape of focus always seemed long and it really is. Torque steer is still present even though it has the Revoknuckle and does have a great sound and a good turn of speed. For me the main improvements were the interior and the sound. I still felt my Mk1 handled that bit better, it is roughly 200-300kg lighter i believe and definitely felt it when blasting around.

All that said, I would still own a Mk2 for sure as a family car as it was bigger than the Mk1. Although Ford do impose an RS tax on servicing etc and there have been some problems with the Mk1 and cost me alot of money to fix. So i reckon we need to wait a few years to see if the Mk2 has a better build quality.

Mk2 compared to Zed, i'd still take the Zed everytime. But they are 2 completely different cars. The Zed sounds better for me and has better quality of materials and feel inside, plus RWD means you can use all 300 rampaging horses without any torque steer (The Mk2 does also limit power in the first 2 gears to help with the problem). Nissan gave me better service at the dealership too.

Hope that makes a good read B)

then i would be a happy happy man  its just missing 4wd for me and thats it, i could live with it being a focus then becasue it is set apart properly from a focus st. they could have been onto some proper old RS territory with 4WD. would have been a legend :notworthy:

RS cosworth?

yes it would have been heavier and more expensive but they could have squeezed a wee bitty more out of the engine :teeth:

they already had the ST so why try to make it "affordable" and "sensible" YAWN

They couldn't over price it, otherwise how would they sell the limited edition RS500 for a premium to sucker more people in :). The original RS500 is still worth mega money for one in pristine condition i think.

RS Cosworth - Escort/Sierra were 4wd but there was also a 2wd variant of the Sierra (Sapphire) with the Cosworth engine. So not all Ford Cosworths were 4wd.
