Yup the dipstick is a bl**dy nightmare - but does sound low...surely though if you've just bought it its been serviced recently?

Remap gains depend on the other mods you have fitted, between 10 and 30BHP seems to be the norm. More important might be the removal of the power limiter in lower gears and a smoother a/f mixture plot

Check the level when the oil is cold and you are on level ground. You might have to 'dip' several times to get a relaible reading. Also - what is the oild pressure guage reading at tickover and at 60mph in 6th gear? If the guage seems a bit erractic that is a sign of low oil as the pump picks up what is there and in turn triggers the guage sensor.

If stil in doubt go back to the garage and insist on an oil change ;)

remap is a starting place to get more throttle which is limited in the lower gears, also improved curves. Abbey or RS Tuning are two companies that can help you out with this.
