Biggy Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 There would be another way to go around this, which i have done before, if anyone has upgraded there alarm to Clifford or Toad etc and use the Alarm buttons to open and close the door, what i did was glue the transponder to the ignition barrel which permantly knocks out the standard imobilisor (which i didn't need as the alarm has one built in) another reason i had to do this was for the remote start as well. Food for thought. Quote
clarkie34 Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 You can customise Clifford to do what you want from leaving your lights on for a set time to leaving the engine running for a set time. But the cost of a Clifford alarm to do that is getting close to a grand. Oh and what has that got to do with a folding key? Quote
Biggy Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Well the main problem of using a folding key is that of the buttons and the chip, so by using a clifford alarm you can eliminate the need for those buttons, all cliffords aren't expensive either, i got my concept 650 with remote start and total closure for £450 Quote
James B Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I DONT WANT A CLIFFORD ALARM, I WANT A KEY THAT DOESNT LOOK LIKE IT OPENS A KIA!!! Gosh feel better after that. Assuming no ones made any real progress with this?............ Quote
IanS16 Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 No progress made on this, the buttons don't align and you'd have to shave down the circuit board by a mm or two to get it to fit. I only have one key so I din't want to risk it in the end. I think its a custom mould job TBH Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 if i was to look into this and have a mould made up the initioal investment would be high; let me find out what kind of costs i'll be looking at and i'll see if i can find somewhere to manufacture a custom made Nissan 350z Flip key. if people want to upload some images of keys that they like (sounds very sad doesn't it) it will give me an idea of what to work towards. i'll also need a key off someone, be it a dead key or a spare as i'll have to send it off as part of the moulding process. don't know what poeple think, was their a list somewhere of interested parties? give me an idea of numbers? Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Me too. I like the VW ones. i retract my earlier comment about sending me picture ideas, i've been researching and its going to be cheaper to do if i modify and exsisting fob. will post up a new thread when i have details. i think the initial investment to do this is going be big. so not sure what the costs are going to be Quote
Watshot Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Yes, interest expressed, I thank you. Quote
James B Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 This is the unicorn of the Zed world. Dont think will ever come to fruition. Quote
shieldsie Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Same was said about key fob folding mirrors for years, but someone came along and concluded this quite simply in the end!! Quote
rtbiscuit Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 i priced this up and its just uneconomical to do; the end cost of the keys would just be stupid, there just isn't enough zeds and zed owners to bother trying. who ever did it would end out of pocket if they go down the OEM flip key style route. Quote
James B Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 IDEA. Could we go a different route by making a custom mould sheath for the existing key? Could have a cool Z on it. Second thoughts its just a ball ache for a car key isnt it! Quote
spu01jaw Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 has anyone tried using a different key that runs on the same frequency? ie. a vw or audi key and teird to program it to their car? or even an american key and reprogram it to a uk car? Quote
