Ian Posted April 18, 2010 Author Posted April 18, 2010 Almost finished Coolant overflow & power steering tank refitted S/C belt on, IC pipe fitted, oil lines connected Once the bumper bar is back on then I can tidy up the oil hoses & get them tied to the bar. Slight problems - Oil catch can won't fit in the standard location, it interferes with the pulley so I am getting a new bracket made up tomorrow so that I can move it further along the radiator. Power steering belt is squealing a lot & needs to be tightened, I cant really see much under the car now though so I'll sort that once its light. Just the little jobs left to do now thought Quote
Pimm Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 So when will the engine be starting for that first time ?? Sorry i missed you at the end today mate, was a good one though Quote
Ian Posted April 18, 2010 Author Posted April 18, 2010 Its been started Sounds great apart from the uber squealing belt Quote
choptop Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Ian, Great post and a stunning build. Can you give an idea of costs for the parts and roughly how many hours has it taken you for the build? Cheers Nick Roughly I'd say about £7.5K on parts Time taken I would say is about 45-50 hours Not bad considering I've never done anything like this before Looking good! Good to see you and your mate today. Did you manage to start her today after the Cheddar Meet? Finally got done around 7.30, she purrs quite nicely Full update will follow once I've sorted the pictures out Quote

CL605Nick Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Ill tell you a funny story about a Diablo..................... Was cruising down the A34 when spotted one a few cars ahead during heavey traffic. Pulled along side and guy gives the thumbs up etc. We then leave the A34 for the 303 and have a great play making lots of noise etc until reaching Basingstoke. Get stopped at a set of lights and he pulls up along side, winds down his window and says to me.............. "Awesome car mate, looks stunning" Coming from a Lambo owner, I took it as the ultimate compliment Quote
Ian Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 The moment I have been waiting for After a small rev it DIED Then it wouldnt start & when I did get it started it wouldnt idle Problem traced to an intercooler pipe that I hadnt properly secured Refitted pipe, fitted jubilee clip that I forgot to fit started car and Much success Just the small jobs left now - Fix the horns, relocate catch can & put it back together Quote
