shieldsie Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 This is offered at the HiQ garage. Apparently, better road handling. Upto 25% increase in tyre life. Upto 5% reduction in fuel consumption. No water vapour or oxygen means no corrosion of wheels. Quote
Vik54 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 WTF? For road cars?...........just googled it though seems to be way forward Quote
shieldsie Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 I had the 2 new back Toyos filled with this, and I will have the 2 fronts filled tommorrow Quote
Chris`I Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 For track I can see it would be worth it, but on the road? And how do they reckon it gives better handling (on road, not track) and longer tyre life? Quote
marzman Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Hasnt this been around for years? Im pretty certain i got this in my tyre when i had a blowout on my bmw, probably early 2007? It was like £1.50 per tyre? Quote
Ekona Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I've run nitrogen filled tyres for the last two years now, and while there is noticeable benefits on track there's not so much of a difference on road. That said, nitro filled tyres hold their pressures over a period of time far better than normal air: I've yet to need a top up on a nitro filled tyre. Well worth doing if you can get your hands on it. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 been around for donkey's yonk's, the MR2 roadster club used to go up to demon tweeks for a nitrogen fill and new wheels. also used to do another session at silverstone performance i think as well. i wouldn't mind it on mine at some point. all it means is that your tyres pressures aren't subject to heat interference so the pressures won't change. it has equal empasis on road cars as much as it does on track cars. should mean on a hot day your tyre pressure should stay at 35 psi instead of altering across the 4 tyres. and if its only £1.50 a tyre why not. should mean you need to fill up less as well (air wise) Quote
clarkie34 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Isn't this that the stuff they use on the GTR as standard? Quote

rtbiscuit Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 So how much does it cost? marzman said £1.50 a corner, but i think there is a variety of prices depending on where you get it done. Quote

Jotun Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 As far as I am aware the science on this is somewhat iffy. For £1.50 it doesn't seem too expensive to take a fly on, but do some reading around first and see what you think. Quote
BulletMagnet Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 That's why Enkei made these ones that way one valve is for filling nitro and the other for purging oxy, that way it's garuanteed to be pure nitro with no oxy remaining. Quote

M13KYF Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 some manufacturers have been using nitrogen for years in the tyres. Costco do it as standard on fitting. Quote
