speedy Posted August 17, 2009 Share Posted August 17, 2009 Hi all, I have had my Zed for nearly 8 months now and like everyone I have alot of things I would like to do, but need to save the pennies, especially since i have just moved in with the girl friend. There are a couple of things I need some help with, even though I have been looking through the forum and trying the search function, but it only works when you not what to type!! 1 – What is the best method for getting rid of dead bugs? 2 – What is the rough cost of get the Rays Refurbished? 3 – What is the best wax product? From reading a lot of the forum it seems that the Zed is a second car for most people! Which is the best wax product, how long have you got. Ive got my Zed so waxed up, all it needs now is just a bucket of warm water, and microfibre wipe down EVERY morning before I go to work. If I have to drive in the rain, when I get home I hose down immediately to keep the crap off it and hose wheel arches. I sometimes use 'muck off' if really tough but mainly warm water micro fibre cloth and a lot of elbow grease !!! 2 – What is the rough cost of get the Rays Refurbished? Ive had mine done at a place called Advanced Autobody in Derby £50 per wheel repaired and resprayed. 3 – What is the best wax product? davyrobo Posted August 17, 2009 Share Posted August 17, 2009 Welcome from another newbie! 1. Dead bugs a bit of elbow grease when washing with Autoglym shampoo conditioner. 2. I had one of my black chrome GT4 wheels repaired for £70 at The Wheel Specialist, they have a web site. 3. I use a variety of products starting with Autoglym shampoo, clay, Autoglym resin polish, Autoglym extra gloss protection, either Autoglym wax or Collinite to give glass like finish, but it is a matter for personal opinion. I have read alot of stuff on here about cleaning a car probably clay etc. So going to give that a try, but where is the detailing forum? Personally I get warm water on a microfibre and lay it on the problem area (not that easy on the zeds bumper but possible) then you remove the cloth and the bugs will be soft and easy to remove with a washmit and shampoo. 2 – What is the rough cost of get the Rays Refurbished? Depends what you want done but £50 to £90 seems normal. 3 – What is the best wax product? Ahhhhhhhhhh, lots of options. Everyone will say different. I'll say this though - the wax will make no difference if the paint hasn't been prepared properly underneath it! It is also very colour dependent!
