rtbiscuit Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Just came back to me today, while i was in france i saw a pug with Pirelli tyres on, but the pirelli was in white writing, just wondered if anyone new how to do this, or if its something you buy, or if the tyres come from the manufacturer like that? andymc Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Don't believe they would come 'as standard' like that ... but you could use something like tipex (maybe) to paint in the standard logo ... or make a stencil and spray it with white paint - like they do on F1 tyres... Quote
Rocky Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 You can buy a tyre pen from places like halfords Quote
clarkie34 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I did that in 1990 to my MK2 Escort, spent about an hour doing all four wheels.Think it lasted about a week. Quote

austin350z Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 no, no and no please don't it will look $h1T Quote
clarkie34 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 That's the point I was trying to make. I think it looked ok on a old escort that I tries to make look like a rally car with forest arch kit and 3 colour paint job back in 1990. Would not dream of doing it now Quote
rtbiscuit Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 i always remember the big performance super cars having it etc. never remember it on cheap cars. anyone got a link to the one on PH with it Quote
ZMANALEX Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I use a tyre pen on my sets of track tyres so that I can quickly at a glance know which ones go where. Quote
nixy Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I used to have a big black monster wide jeep with wheels like that on - the writing was actually white though, it suited the vehicle at the time but it was still a pile of crap! Quote
BulletMagnet Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 If you do that then I'll come round at night and draw over it with a black marker. It will look @*!# with White lettering on the tyres Quote
rtbiscuit Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 ok point taken, leave the tipex pens for writing mistakes Quote
nixy Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 think ive seen it on nascar racing and as mentioned above, someone i'm sure posted something up on here with white writing and it got slated.......... Quote
IanS16 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Dont do it!! Unless you are sponsored or have a big muscle car with massive sidewalls!! Quote
bronzee Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Also do you want to openly advertise to dishonest tykes that the car has Pirelli tyres on? Quote
Dblock Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 If it only lasts a week try it, you might like it you might not. Quote

pathfinder123 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 My rear Stones are a bit light on tread, so I use a black felt tip pen to improve the pattern. It works alright until I go out in the rain... S. Quote
