Some of you guys have had some sweet sets of wheels, especially the Lambo. Nice.

Here’s a list of what I’ve had in the past, some I’ve loved, others were on hindsight, a mistake.

1991 - 1983, A Reg, Vauxhall Chevette - First car, rear wheel drive, I felt like Jimmy McRae at every roundabout in the wet, great wee car.

1993 - 1990, G Reg, Seat Ibiza - Big Body Kit ant Alloy wheels, (to me at the time) It looked great and the engine said 'System Porsche' - I still don't know what that meant!

1994 - 1990, G Reg, Vauxhall Cavalier 1.4L, a bit boring but very reliable and cheap to run.

1995 - 1990, H Reg Ford Fiesta XR2i - Absolutely loved this car, delivered Chinese in it while at Uni; the best job I ever had... the faster I drove the more money I got, unfortunately it kept breaking!

1997 - 1993, K Reg, Ford Mondeo 1.8LX - 23 years old, what was I thinking? - sold it to my dad after a few months. Enough said.

1998 - 1994, M Reg, Honda Civic ESi - Fantastic Car, utterly bullet proof. I've still got this car and use it for track days, I've hit tyre walls in it, it's been stolen and recovered, vandalised and it still won't die! - Now started with a screwdriver!

2001 - 1994, M Reg, Mitsubishi FTO (Manual) - Another great car, great to drive and looked the business.

2002 - 1999, S Reg, BMW 323 convertible - Good solid car, very comfortable but not inspiring to drive, too heavy and slow after the FTO

2004 - 1998, R Reg, Mitsubishi FTO (Tip) - Not a patch on the Manual and proof to me that you should never go back.

2005 - 2000, W Reg, Porsche Boxster S - Loved this car, an absolute dream come true, only towards the end when it needed a few repairs was the experience soured a little. I sold it in June, one of the saddest days of my life. Someone else above mentioned that people thought he was a c0ck driving the Boxster, I must admit I never got that; I just had a few neds shouting abuse and trying to spit on it. Losers.

2004 - 2002, 52 Reg, Audi A4 Avant TDi - Used as a commuter when I had the Porsche, great car, best build quality ever, it had done 124,000 miles when I sold it and it drove like new.

2008 - 2006 56 Reg, Nissan 350Z GT - Different from the Porsche, less of a sports car and more of a Grand Tourer. Lots of comfort, loads of toys and great to drive.

Other cars considered/driven before buying my Zed:

BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0 - Disliked it as soon as I sat in it, didn't bother driving it.

Subaru Impreza PPP - Great to drive, too loud and ugly as sin.

Audi TT 2.0 Turbo - Felt like a toy compared with the Boxster

Audi TT 3.2 - As above, enjoyed the drive home from the dealer much more than the test drive.

Honda Civic Type R - Got tired after 5 minutes of having to Rev the nuts off it to make it go.

Golf GTi - I really liked it, my girlfriend didn't. Would be a great 'sensible' choice but I'm not old enough to be sensible yet.

Mercedes SLK 350 - A bit too girlie, so didn't drive it.

Porsche Cayman S - Brilliant, is an 18 months old Cayman worth twice as much as the equivalent 350z? - No chance, I'd say the 350z is 95% of the car for 50% of the cost (similar to my rational for buying the Boxster when weighed up against a 911). An absolute no-brainer.

Porsche Boxster S (987) - Great car but was too similar to my 986 and I wanted a change.

Why did I choose the Zed?

It ticks every box: great to drive, quick, loads of toys, looks great, very reliable, cheap to run, great value for money.

What's next?

I've only had my Zed for 3 months and think it's superb so I'll hold onto it for a while.

I can't see me getting bored of it but I do like to change my car fairly often. The only things I can think of at the moment are a BMW 335 coupe (Petrol or Diesel), an M3 or another Porsche.

I have had alot of run of the mill cars which to me have always had there little personnal touches done to them :D

5 years ago i owned a Vauxhal vectra C 3.2 GSi(latest shape) spent nearly 7 grand on mods in 4 years of owning the car and enjoyed every day i owned her.

I then sold the Veccy last year for a 530D SE (newshape) and for a little while i thought i was happy BUT not.

3 months later i was looking for something different and faster so a 350 seemed to fit the bill. I have owned my z for 6 months know and i can honestly say i am having the time of my life. I have NO interest in any other car and look forward in spening more time in the z. :D:D

- Mazda Eunos (Xedos 6 in the UK), my first car when I was living in New Zealand. Only a 1.8 but it was a V6! Quite a good cruiser actually, sounded almost as good as a Z.

- Fiat Punto 1.2. Returned to Ireland and the insurance companies woudn't recognise the NCB I'd built up in NZ  , so had to drive this for a year

- Alfa 156 2.0 Veloce. Beautiful car, if a little fragile. If only the Brera drove as good as it looks, it would have been my next car.

- 350Z since March this year and lovin' it, hasn't missed a beat and was a great companion for a big European road trip in June culminating in a visit to the 'Ring.

Before buying I also considered an RX-8 because they were so cheap, glad I didn't now.

Will keep the Z for a couple of years more then maybe a GTR, Mazzer Granturismo S or 911. That's if petrol hasn't gone to 10 quid a litre and we're all driving G-Wiz's :scare:

Right, try again and my history from 1983;

yvsmrz.jpg

Vauxhall Chevette saloon, owned by Grandad, then Dad, then me, in yellow. Tought me rear wheel drive handling, went through three clutches ended up painting the bottom half black to blend in the pug and hammerite. It had chrome bumpers and wheel caps, spent a lot of quality time in that car. There is a XR3i turbo in the background, unfortunately he suffered from vandals quite often and then blew the engine due to inferior fuel.

yvsmr0.jpg

Honda Quintet - started a family, wanted a CRX really :( mechanicals never broke, but bits started falling off it when the brown rot set in. Not a particuarly nice looking car but it did the job.

A87CNP Ford Fiesta 1.4 CVH in poo brown, which was about as good as the colour. Went on hols to Scotland in it, from Kent stopped at Edinburgh as the missus wanted to check out the Star Trek exhibition, got back to the car and it had been broken into, with some muppets stealing some dirty underwear and toiletries. The police were amazed that we had come that far in the car. It had a tendency to pop the oil filler cap at high revs, which proved embarrasing stopping to run back down the road to collect it after some overtaking manouvre. It was rubbish, but I was down on my luck at the time.

yvsmrw.jpg

Company Vauxhall Cavalier 1.7TD white, not bad, Oil pump failed which killed the turbo, oops, glad I didn't have to pay for it.

Y Company Vauxhall Astra Estate 1.6, ok but didn't keep it for long as tax a killer so went onto car allowance and got myself

yvsmrv.jpg

Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 16V SRI lovely car, really liked it, but the dealers let me down a lot so I vowed never to own another Vauxhall.

y7az54.jpg

Seat Leon 1.8T 180 sport. First new car other than company vehicles, bought for engine and nearly the same as having a VW or Audi 1.8T. Pain to keep the spoked wheels clean and a bit bland on the styling so..

y7azsa.jpg

M20VTR Seat Leon Cupra R 1.8T 210 (52 on a private plate, do you get it? 20 Valve Turbo R) chipped to 275bhp stonking performance, bought new and sold 3.5yrs later with 110K on it. Not brilliant reliability but nothing really major failed. Downer was contacting the chap I sold it to and finding out he sold it on for more that I did 6 months later!

yn0j45.jpg

GR55 Lexus IS220D SE-L Lovely car filled with some pointless toys but mostly good and brilliant DD5.1 14 speaker system. I don't think a Lexus should ever have a diesel and the gearbox was bad, I only got about 28mpg average out of it, shame to sell it but wanted something more exiting for the daily driver.

Now bought this on impulse when looking for a car for the missus. B)

yu2qog.jpg

56 plate Sunset GT coupe, but not had it long so no thoughts about changing yet, and no plans to mod it. I lowered the Lexus and put pimp wheels on it but that spoiled the ride.

Also in the armoury

yquyf2.jpg

F 1989 Porsche 928 S4 with stop and go pedals which it does both very well on the 5.L V8 I am gently restoring it, bringing the tired 20 year old items up to date, suspension, engine mounts, HT leads and that sort of thing.

Well scene as we are all putting the cars up, i thought i would tag along.

Rover metro, as the first (the list gets sooo much worse :scare: )

Escort 1.6LX

As above but Si

As above but xr3i

Rover 220ti coupe

Astra GSI

My beloved Motegi Vti

and finally.. The Z of dreams

They aren't all that bad though!

Chose the Z because its a modern iconic car i feel and its so much better than a lot of other cars on the market (well so far)

Next!! I think i will do the upgrade to the 370, equilly stylish, but i can see it being a little more common than the current Z (hopefully not though)

Mine is pretty short but each car has meant a lot to me for a variety of reasons.

2000: 1976 MGB GT...British Racing Green. Loved this car as I restored it over a few years before I could drive. Really sad that I had to sell it in the name of practicality and rising costs. Nothing beats the pure simplicity twin carbs and a race exhaust.

2004: 2004 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 - cheap to run, practical, special edition with leather and other toys. Had a few good fun road trips. But it paved the way for...

2006: 2004 350Z GT Coupe. No chance of moving it on just yet but look forward to expanding my list!

As im only 22 the car history is relatively short lol

1st: R reg - Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 sport with an induction kit and stainless B) lol

(wrote this off within 6 weeks of ownership )

2nd: W reg - Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 sport

3rd: 02 reg - Vauxhall Corsa 1.8 Sri

4th: V reg - Vauxhall Corsa 2.1 16v (redtop conversion)

This is truely the only car ive ever loved. Total track beast (205bhp) with the quaffe diff, bilstein suspension, stripped and dropped on the floor. Still own it as a track weapon. :D

(Weird Vauxhall fan im afraid)

5th 04 reg - Nissan 350z

The reason i bought this was wanted something almost as fast as the corsa, but far more reliable (the corsa eats gearboxs like there chocolate) and something which didnt anger the neighbours eachtime i started it lol. The 350 also looks great! Havent fallen in love with the zed yet but there is time. :D

Had one of these before the Z

kif0486qn0.th.jpgthpix.gif

Probably still the most exciting thing i've driven, came across one in my Z the other day and it bought back found memories (still amazed how a 1.8L engine can make so much noise ) ...but no aircon or stereo as standard hence the reason i swapped it for the Z...

Looking at moving on to a M5 soon....got to love the way they are depreciating at the moment :teeth:
