I think it's some kind of virus/malware. Have you installed any kind of new software recently? Or clicked on a dodgy link?

I used to have that couple of years ago on my laptop (windows OS), but can't remember how I got rid of it. Probably just ran anti-virus/malware software to get rid of it.

Are you using Safari or other browser, eg Firefox, Chrome?

Check if you have installed any browser add-on/extension.

Feel free to PM or call me, I could have a look remotely.

As a matter of interest the word "Trader" above your avatar on your post is highlighted and when clicked, takes me to a website I haven't seen before "monGenie.com" ... your next post the word "Trader" is not highlighted

I'm not blaming anyone but my granddaughter (aged9) was playing on the iMac as the last user a couple of hours ago

I did read it, thanks. That's why I specified it happened on Windows OS, but principle is same I would imagine!

Same here. I don't use mac products - I know they suck, but I guess I just never imagined they could be so terrible that they have add-ons that are only available as malware on Windows :p

I don't think it's the mac product that is giving the problem, its the non mac software being used 'FIREFOX'

Personally I recommend using Safari, never had any issues

Safari for normal browsing, Chrome for if you want to access flash content. Then you never had to install dirty, resource hungry, unstable flash software on your Mac and you can keep Chrome memory leaks to a minimum :teeth:
