  1. Just to add one thing to the cons list, which applies more to an engine swap than a TT/SC kit, and that's to write off the very vast majority of the cost of the whole shebang. A TT/SC'd car is relatively easy to put back to stock and if you buy second hand (which, it has to be said, most people do these days) then you'll reclaim most of what you spent. The time & cost of putting an LS'd Zed back to stock is going to be horrendous unless you have the ability to completely DIY it, and if you leave it all in then you'll never reclaim anything of what you spent when selling the car on. Well, maybe a grand or two, but certainly nothing substantial. That said, this was the only mod I ever gave serious consideration to doing when I had my Zed. Crate engine was approx £10K, I figured another £4K for bits and then another £2K on top for a garage to finish off the bits I couldn't, plus 10% just in case. Trouble was that would then have left me with a car that would've been nigh-on unsellable not to mention doing all the other bits you really should do for 400bhp+ (suspension, brakes etc) and my car was already well modified in that aspect at a serious cost. You have to really love your Zed, want to keep your Zed forever and/or have a stupid amount of money to burn before considering this IMHO, as you'd be far better off just buying a quicker car in the first place (TVR if you want the V8 sound + speed, 996TT if you want the speed + luxury). And despite all that, I would love for someone to give it a go over here as I think it's a far more interesting project than just slapping a couple of turbos to a car.
  2. Do it, OEM one is very restrictive.
  3. Odd, I was thinking the same about the GTR!
  4. Lols, blame the autocorrect for that brilliantly unintended slip there!
  5. Loads of room for four soft bags, you'll be fine
  6. Possibly moisture getting into a coilpack as well if it's only happening first thing.
  7. It's absolutely bloody horrible and I actively avoid forums that have it. It makes everything look untidy and as soon as you flick a mouse over a title it then blocks up half the page and you spend all your time trying to position the cursor in a place where it's not touching anything just so you can read the damn screen. Horrible, irritating design. If we must have it then please give us the option to turn it off (only run it on the 350 or 370 setting?), but please don't make it compulsory.
  8. Lucky sod, great choice
  9. Pretty good cheers mate, I'm just about recovered from the wedding on Xmas Eve, which went rally well with no hiccups at all! The wife is now downstairs making me some dinner, so I think I've just about got her trained too
  10. Ah, I wondered why I found that free in the app store earlier...!
  11. I've been using Espuma Revolution at 10:1 on my polished lip wheels for well over a year now, and have had zero side effects with it. Well, apart from very clean wheels of course!

    Buying falken 452

    *tyre
  13. Basically, they're the best tyre you can buy for any car right now period, go treat your car to them Greekman runs them on his Zed, he'd be able to give you more details if you need, but nothing else you can buy will even get close to the PSS.

    tyre 3 way...

At that price point, I'd only be looking at the VUS or the Contis. Pirelli tyres are absolutely gash for feel these days sadly so I wouldn't even consider them, I've never used the Contis but have yet to hear a bad thing about them, but I have tried the VUS and adore them. Outright grip isn't massive (certainly not a patch on the Bridgestones you're currently running) but you do get masses of feedback through them so you can really exploit the chassis. That said, if you're happy with what you've got on now (and the RE050s are better than all the others you mention), don't bother changing. Stick with what you know if you're happy with it.
  15. Exactly, schoolkids! They don't know any better though, proper adults really should.
  16. They were supremely cool back in the day when I were a lad, 13 and desperate for the best trainers out there, but now they just look a bit chav for me. Come to think of it, so do most trainers really.
  17. I think that was just a lot of very early speculation. It'll be a triple-turbo lump, with some amazing plumbing no doubt. Someone far cleverer than me did the maths once on just how much energy you'd need to make an electric supercharger feasible, and it came back with something like 14 car batteries to power the thing which would make the weight gain far worse than any potential power increase.
  18. Oi, I resemble that comment!!! Bizarrely enough there's not much brand favouritism on the Porker boards I inhabit, and they actively praise other cars whether it's a Ferrari for the noise, an Aston for the styling, or even a Mondeo estate for the ability to carry everything around in. It does seem that the cheaper the car, the more fanboys it seems to attract. Maybe once you get over a certain level of spending you don't feel like you have to justify your purchase any more? I dunno.
  19. That is absolutely beautiful
  20. Couldn't agree with you more. It's verging on downright rudeness when folks come onto a forum, ask for a load of help but never say please or thank you, or let us know the outcome.
  21. 8:08 for the Megane at the Ring. That's quite a bit faster over a distance than the 350Z. It is £3800 more than the standard 250 Megane, but it also has a load of extras on top that the Cup doesn't. Utter performance bargain
  22. Just for the record, saying "if you were a bloke I'd have knocked you out" isn't assault or a threat or anything they can be charged with. Same deal as if you say "if I wasn't such a nice guy I'd kill you over this". Worry more about the cost than the words. Stick and stones...
  23. How abusive to them was your girlfriend? Two sides and all that, and I know how angry I'd be if someone broke something of mine and then denied it, so she'd be right to get angry but not abusive. If some woman came ranting and swearing at me I'd give her both barrels back, just for equality. Write a letter to them claiming for the damage caused, keeping all receipts etc as proof she was there. If they don't cough up, then go to small claims court.

    40 Profile

Interesting question, not one I'd thought of. Working on made up figures just for the illustration and assuming dry conditions, I suspect the effect on braking would look like this: RE040s on a 45 profile i.e. standard = 100% normal braking 452s on a 45 profile = 90% normal braking 452s on a 40 profile = 92% normal braking due to lower weight than the above tyres PS2s on a 45 profile = 115% normal braking R888s on a 40 profile = 140% normal braking Obviously once you move into wet territory or start looking at different wheel and brake setups you'd have much more variables to play with.
