  1. That's a big phone. That said, I felt the iPhone 5 was too big at first but I'm comfortable using it now. Until they sort the input lag out though, it's nothing I'd ever consider. A knowledgeable mate of mine explained to me why Android devices appear to have this issue in laymans terms for me: The reason Android is "laggy" is because all the UI processing (animations/transitions/etc) is rendered on the main system thread. The upside of this is that in theory there should be slightly more processing grunt available to the currently active app as anything the app needs takes priority over UI rendering. The reason iOS and Windows Phone/Windows RT manage to stay fluid whilst doing tasks is that their UI rendering is processed in a separate worker thread. In iOS that separate thread is reserved for all Core Animation graphics rendering (which includes the UI). This means the currently active app can carry on with its work whilst also allowing the UI to feel smooth but the downside of that is the processing power is now divided. In reality, today's modern ARM processors can handle multiple threads quite comfortably so you might as well design your OS with separate threads for different tasks. As of Android 4.1 (AKA Jelly Bean), Google has implemented UI rendering in a separate thread (internally they called this Project Butter) so Android should not suffer from UI lag. As OEM's like Samsung and HTC put their own "launcher" over the top of stock Android this can still cause lag as it's up to those OEM's to make their launchers multi-threaded. Nexus devices should be buttery smooth running Jelly Bean or later. Makes sense now, and I would like to give a Nexus 4 a go.
  2. Would flying in be a cheaper choice?
  3. It's steak and blowjob day. I've got the steak waiting Dave...
  4. Which is what I said, just wordier!
  5. You don't need to use IMAP over POP, it's just a much more efficient solution if you've got more than one machine you access your mail on. Been there, done that, had to completely change my folder structure to sort it!
  6. Use IMAP, not POP3. 99% sure 123Reg support that, just get the details and pop them onto your phone (which phone?).
  7. Brilliant. So not only have you spent more money on another depreciating asset, but you've also bought a car that's actually smaller than the one you felt claustrophobic and camp as a row of pink tents in. I'm going to set up a BMW dealership near you, I'd make an absolute fortune. Look, I'm only half taking the mick here and it's your money and if you're happy with the car, it really doesn't matter what I think at all. Hell, I spent a small fortune on the 911 and it's still a depreciating stone, but I love it more than anything else I can possibly think of. If you feel the same about a previous gen mid-spec Z4, then I'm honestly pleased for you. It's a funny way of getting yourself into a Zed though, you have to admit.
  8. Would this be the same kind of Z4 that you drove and discovered that you didn't feel at all comfortable in? Or am I thinking of someone else?
  9. S'okay Dips, it worked fine for me. Clearly it's Dave wot has borked the interweb.

  11. Ummm, I think your maths are slightly out, I make it £500 a year Don't forget you'll use more fuel in the Zed though, 24mpg compared to 28mpg in the Stook. Not much in it, but worth thinking about.
  12. 986? Will feel older inside, doesn't look as nice as the 350Z, much better to drive IMHO. Google IMS failure before you do anything else, as that £7K car can become a £14K car if you need to get the engine sorted

    My new car!

Come on then, what's the spec of it?
  14. Maybe it was seen as a potential FS post and goes against their rules? I don't know, I'm not familiar with that forum.
  15. Buy them in two separate orders, they're different sizes anyway so how will they know what car they're going on? As long as delivery costs aren't more than the cost of the fuel card, job's a carrot.
  16. Interesting, hadn't seen that AFTC stuff before. Whilst I don't think I'd use it on my cars, that would be ideal for the Impreza or the Ranger. Cheers for the heads up, I'll give that a whirl.
  17. The biggest issue with the iPhone 5 is iOS. It is in massive need of an update, and a big one. The hardware is as good as it needs to be, as that's not where Apple traditionally excels, it's the software. Sadly, that software is starting to creak a bit. And that's coming from a true iWhore.
  18. Only two phones to consider right now from what's actually been released. Either the iPhone 5, or the Nexus 4. Depends on your taste really. You may want to consider a Windows phone if you're thinking about switching to Android, too.
  19. Nice video, some good driving from the Zed guy particularly. I can't understand why the STi is so weak under braking though, it's a lighter car and even the stock Brembos are more than adequate. Could be driver, could be fluid issue. Would love to know what power both cars were putting out.
  20. It was the day before the Ferrari Racing Day/PHSS. We were there on the Sunday, and I swear to god at least every other F car had a tacky, mis-spelt or misrepresented number plate on it. If you didn't know any better, you'd swear they came with the cars!
  21. Just checking it Autoroute and looks like it's a bit too far for me sorry... GAIDMGLOL
