  1. I missed that line in the first post. Yes, do just that, great spot.
  2. Nah, you'll get a warning letter first of all, normally it's about a month grace. That said, they can just fine you straight away. How would you SORN it without the V5 though? I've never SORN'd a car before, so don't know. I suspect a call to the DVLA might be in order, to clarify things. You never know, you may just get a helpful person.
  3. And this is why you MUST make sure the old reg is taken off the car before you buy it If you get pulled, they'll do you for it and rightfully so. That's not a slight on you, but rather it's the only way to be otherwise they could hear all kinds of sob stories and scrotes would get away with it. It's a faff, but as far as I can see you've no way of taxing it.
  4. Trial and error, really. I use a DAS 6 with some Menzerna pads and various polishes. I use Megs Ultimate Compound to cut with, followed by some Menzerna FF to get a glossy shine, and then some Blackfire AFPP which is simply amazing stuff. Using the above products you cannot damage the paint at all, it's impossible (unless you throw the machine at the car!) however that does mean you may be unable to remove the bigger scratches. For removing the swirls, it's spot-on and I'd stake my reputation on that. There's loads of other polishes you could use that are probably better and a bit more hardcore than the Megs UC, but that little lot works for me and I've tried it across numerous paint types now.
  5. I'd have thought a rev3 tubby would've been a better bet? Or even keep the old one and add to it if it's a track car. Still, as long as he's happy that's the main thing.
  6. Depends. On a car with full service history and that might be worth a bit more (like a last of line, low mileage HR) then I'd probably just throw £150 at a service and be done with it. On an older DE car then I'd just do an oil change myself, stamp the book myself and make sure I kept the receipts.
  7. You must be a terrible driver then
  8. I've never seen anyone actually play at Stansted, but they must be making their money from somewhere.
  9. Very real, they're at all the airports and I know people that have won.
  10. Good lord they're cheap! No idea on quality, but price alone would put me off. Find out if they're E-marked, if so then I'd try them, else I'd look for a better brand. Try TRS if you're on a budget, I use them in the MX-5.
  11. Follow the belts back from the bits you've circled until you get to the first adjuster. That's the bit you unwrap to remove the eyelet part and wrap around the harness instead. Trust me, it makes perfect sense when they're in your hands.
  12. Then you know that you're not insured, right? And you've just admitted that on the internet?
  13. You unwrap the end bit, so buy whichever one you want Bear in mind that if you're planning to remove the stock belts too, then you'll need an E-marked harness for MOT purposes. Both of the ones above will be fine, but if it was me I'd leave the stock belts in and get a decent 4 point harness in there instead.

    Autogrip tyres

Put four tyres on a credit card and worry about it later, a much better option than binning your new car.
  15. But still not showing on the stick? You either need to add more or your dipstick is wrong,
  16. 4.5L including filter, did mine two weeks ago so I know that's right Definitely change it all and keep a very close eye on it, these engines don't tend to burn a lot of oil unless there's an issue. Much blue smoke on start up?
  17. Erm, that's not good! Oil light is useless on all cars, by the time it comes on your engine is fubared. Have you not checked the oil level since Jan?
  18. We run ours on 5w-40, generally accepted across the world as the best grade to use on the 2L turbo engines. I use Silkolene Pro S in ours, 'tis good stuff.
  19. Yes it will more lol.

    tyre choice

Might as well put the cheapest tyres you can find on then, if that's the case. Anything legal will do.
  21. Works for me, I'm definitely in again, thanks for sorting

PS2s are dead now, you need the MPSS. VUS offer lower grip in all conditions, however feel from them is incredible. I quite like them, but in terms of ultimate grip they're definitely lacking,
