  1. This. You know when you're pushing on in a FWD car, and the nose starts running really wide and no matter how much you turn the wheel it just won't go? Well, if you were driving like that in a RWD car it would be the back end trying to overtake the front. Basically, if that doesn't happen very often with you, or you have no idea what I'm talking about, then you won't need to worry about it at all.
  2. I've not signed it. And I won't. Nothing will ever get put into legislation to help us: It's simply not a vote winner. Ever. The best thing we can do is to help ourselves, and stop giving them a reason to complain. Every time someone does a trackday with an exhaust that they think may or may not be quiet enough, that's working against our cause. Every time someone thinks that track day = drift day and spends all Saturday with tyres singing, that's working against our cause. I like loud exhausts. I like sliding on track. I also know when taking the p*ss is going that little bit too far. If every single trackdayer stopped chasing every last bhp and instead made a hugely concerted effort into making their car as quiet as possible, we'd all be winners. Stop giving the NIMBYs ammo and they'll go complain about something else. My track car is massively quieter than our road car (MR2 vs Mini), and even when I took the 911 on track I left the exhaust in quiet mode as there was no point wasting dB. Sure, loud cars are fun and I won't pretend they're not, but ultimately driving cars is more fun than listening to them. We should help ourselves on this, because you can be damn sure no-one else will.

    Chrome Orange or Viper Green
  4. Nope, take your own car and it's all done at North Weald airfield, so plenty of space for fun and slides
  5. Depends where, but I'd happily recommend www.carlimits.com with Andy Walsh, the driest Welshman you'll ever meet (in terms of humour, definitely not alcohol) but he'll teach you things you didn't think you could do. Can't recommend him enough.
  6. Doesn't really matter, it's your money I'd be having the M6 over an M3 or a 335i, or anything else mentioned really.
  7. Coolant gets warm quickly, that's not the issue here. The problem is that the oil will still be stone cold, and that's what causes the wear.
  8. JAE had Thor Racing in when they were at Peterborough, but really any trader with a hub dyno could do it.
  9. Kick him out to where? He's British! Don't worry, he'll soon be back in jail again.
  10. I wouldn't want to go much over 150k tops without doing the chain, but if the deflection on it is still okay then I guess I wouldn't bother. No idea on cost of doing it though.
  11. OP, when you say you want performance, do you want straight line speed or handling as well? As nice as the RS4 is, a Zed or the obvious M3 (46 or 90) handles better, so would be quicker round a circuit, for example. Regardless, £16K gets you into an M6. That'll demolish a 400bhp Zed or an RS4 without breaking sweat, and plus you have one of the last great V10 road engines in there too.
  12. And V8 noises!
  13. None of them state that at all: They're all WiFi dongles, which is what iOS needs to communicate with. Apple do not allow the use of BT for anything other than a few obvious uses (music streaming, phone calls etc). Android allows the use of bluetooth dongles with OBD2, but iOS requires WiFi. Hence the reason we all linked to WiFi ones All OBD2 apps just let you monitor things, they do not let you change anything. You'd need model-specific software to do that, and I'm not aware of anything like that available for mobile devices.
  14. Bluetooth will not work with iOS and OBDII, you have to use a WiFi dongle. Any old thing will do, I use this one with DashCommand. That'll definitely work on your 370Z, but the others mentioned above will do also. Mine's just cheaper!
  15. That's my one for the year then. Damn, peaked early as usual.
  16. Or leave for work 10mins earlier and take the long route.
  17. Absolutely, I'd rather fight 'right' than fight like they do. Trouble is, that's another reason why they're such a pesky menace.
  18. Don't be daft, that's far too much like common sense for the DVLA!
  19. Thread of the year. Done.
  20. I like that.
  21. They're not bad at all, but compared to an ally 4-pot they're about double the weight.
  22. Ah, if only it would fit! And y'know, not double the weight of the car!
  23. Car is now back from the garage. Handbrake works (hurrah!), both rear calipers replaced again, brake pedal still rubbish. They've now fitted a restrictor into the servo pipe to try and give some feel back, but it's not really done the job. I mean, it's better, but it's not like it should be. Emissions still miles out, so need to get that sorted before I can MOT again. Seriously fed up with this car now.
