  1. Of course not, I'm not that daft! I changed my mind at one point and decided to move the socket point after we'd run them, and the cables were a fraction short so I had to join them under the floor. Not a huge issue, but every join brings a new possibility of failure.
  2. You can hear the NAS, but that's because I have a noisy fan at the front that needs fixing When the TV is on, you can't hear anything and I'm sat approx 2.5m from it as we speak. If you run a server with silent fans, you won't hear it at all if in a cupboard.
  3. I'm not convinced NT would know what depth 050As should be from new. Only Bridgestone themselves would know, get the info from them as well
  4. Run more cables than you think you'll need: I can promise you at least one will have a break in it, or get a nick in it, or not be long enough etc.
  5. I've never measured a set of new tyres, so no idea if that's common or not. If they look new, I wouldn't be worried about differences like that. Not all new tyres are 8mm. I wouldn't be surprised if this was standard for your tyres (what are they btw?).
  6. Always, always, always go cabled if you possibly can. Wireless is fine, but it suffers from so many potential issues wrt streaming large files that it's not always a good idea to rely on it.
  7. Most MAMILs don't.
  8. If you like a brick on wheels, sure. It's purposeful, but it's not pretty. In fairness, GT-Rs never have been. They don't need to be.
  9. Look in the bottom of the cabinet They're long ones, so they'll sit there ready for when/if I need to connect something temporarily to the switch in that cupboard. Good spot though sir!
  10. Worse than that, I had a VXR220 over an Elise! You're absolutely right though, I go for experience over looks. Always have done, no idea why.
  11. Not at all. I'm saying a 1 series hatch is better looking than an R35.
  12. Bear in mind this isn't the finished article, I still have lots more work to do! Yeah, needs a huge amount of tidying up with some more trunking etc, but you get the gist. Means I can add a printer or server or whatever anywhere in the house, no drama at all. The big box you see is my current NAS.
  13. Cable ties are your friend I'm fortunate that I have a server cupboard that I can hide everything in, so it doesn't have to be super-neat. I have cables coming from the faceplates, but they have units in front of them (TV unit, or a dresser in the bedroom etc) so you can't see that either. Oh, and definitely colour code your cables, makes life a hell of a lot easier! Let me get some pics and upload them for you, two secs.
  14. I'm glad we agree Seriously though, the hatch isn't that ugly. It's just not as pretty as the coupe. It's better looking than the R35...
  15. Bought a spare key today. Just a valet one as I only need it for emergencies, but I was somewhat surprised when it turned up as a single piece of solid... Plastic? Yup, spare keys of that era are now made of grey plastic. They still have a small transponder in so do indeed start the car (but not turn off the alarm, sorry neighbours ), but not exactly what I expected. Still, only £40 instead of £140 for the full remote doobry. A set of ARBs shall likely be on the car shortly after I return from LM, I feel the need to start tinkering
  16. Absolutely. The main thing is you're okay, and he may well not do it again. Hopefully... Did you have a big rant-off right in his face? I think I would have
  17. I think I escaped lightly '90s FTMFW.
  18. I was born in 1979. Just to make you feel old
  19. Did he seem sorry at all? Or realise his mistake?
  20. I go to the gym only so I can eat more.
  21. Measure the gap, then buy a plate to fit?
  22. Did you have a sensible word with the guy before running to the bosses?
  23. Sometimes the experience is more important than the looks. Actually, scratch that, it's always more important.
  24. Tyres. /predictable
  25. Hatch is lighter than the coupe, so quicker
