  1. I don't think anyone can sensibly argue otherwise, both valid points. That's what makes high speed exhilarating though!
  2. Depends on the car, the driver and the conditions too. I'd trust myself to do 100mph on a quiet motorway in a 350 all day long if it were dry, but put Doris in a Lambo doing that speed in the wet and clearly that's not good. Actually, I've driven at speeds well in excess of 100mph on mountainous roads with no or little barriers plenty of times, on the Isle Of Man. I forgot about that! Sure, there were risks, but I was only ever at 8/10ths max just in case. If I'd had a blow-out then I'd be dead, but that would be the same at 70 on the M25.
  3. Well, I don't want to be that person, but what's the difference between an empty motorway and an empty autobahn? What makes it safe to do 125mph on one but not on the other? I'm pretty well known for sticking strictly to the speed limits these days in places where there exists an obvious danger to others or where it's likely you're going to get caught, so I'm not saying it's fine to go hooning at any old speed. I'll jump quickly on anyone who gets caught speeding because it's pretty easy to avoid ever getting caught, but neither do I for one second believe that anything over X mph is dangerous.
  4. Same goes for trackdays, then.
  5. Wow, you can still get an EMB?! You'd need to get it tuned, and that's what costs. Personally for the Zed I'd go Uprev from one of the suppliers on here, if you're going to remap.
  6. Supras are massively overpriced for what they are. People only want them to stick ridiculous bodykits to and strap whopping great turbos to go fast in a straight line. Yeah, I said it.
  7. I never auto sync my data to the cloud. I trust myself to do it properly, rather than some software deciding to go tits-up at the wrong moment. At least I only have myself to blame then!
  8. 125mph may have been perfectly fine in the area they were doing that speed, it was taking a hairpin at 40mph instead of 30mph that got them for example.
  9. ^^^ Exactly what I was getting at.
  10. Hah, good point!
  11. Awful thing to happen though, but it can all happen so quickly and easily. Diesel on the roads etc. Anyone know what car it was?
  12. "Another paper, Salzburger Nachrichten, reported the vehicles had been travelling at speeds of up to 124mph (200kph)." Could've been anywhere, including a nice flat piece of road somewhere. I'm guessing that's just a made-up speed though, as in everyone who overtakes my Dad on the motorway "Must've been doing at least 100mph, the lunatic!". Or so says my Dad.
  13. And yeah, I've done almost that speed on a public road before. Not in the UK mind, but not in Germany either.
  14. How do we know it was 125mph?
  15. Racing, or just pushing on with a fellow petrolhead? We've all been there and done that. Stories like this do no-one any favours.
  16. Oh hell yeah, the 350 comes alive on track
  17. Maybe unfair to categorise it a 'performance car' then What else would you call a 350Z, if not a performance car?
  18. Remove phone from pocket to check time, then replace: 4 secs (I just timed it!). Move wrist to see time: 1 sec How many times a day do I check the time? Let's call it once an hour. Multiply that by 16 and you get 64 secs and 16 secs respectively. Over a week that's 448 and 112, then a year it's 23360 and 5840. In ONE YEAR, you spend nearly 6.5 HOURS just checking the time on a phone, compared to 1.5 hours if you have a watch. That's a spare 5 hours you have to do, well, anything you want really. Okay, so I've just made the case for wearing a watch and not for wearing a smartwatch, but still...
  19. Not to all, it's not. Like I said, it's the most boring performance car I've ever owned.
  20. This is a good wakeup call to everybody reading this to go and back their stuff up now. And then backup the backup.
  21. All smartphones were seen as pointless until the iPhone came out and people realised just how they could enrich their lives. I'm not convinced that smartwatches are even aimed at people that don't wear watches, not really. I wear a watch because it adds a bit of bling to my arm and so I don't have to pull my phone out of my pocket just to check the time when I'm out and about. Give me a bit of tech that can enhance that in a way I find meaningful and I'll buy it: I just don't think the Apple Watch is there for me right now.
  22. Depends where you work: At McLaren, I'd suggest it probably wouldn't be. You're missing the point though, which is that it can be boring depending on what you're comparing it to.
