Ekona replied to Dynamic Turtle's topic in Other Cars
That they are. I hated our one, only car I've been glad to see the back of. Depends on what you want it for, I suppose. Now me, I'm a proper RWD fan, but that doesn't mean I don't love thrashing our 182 whenever I get the chance. That said, as a track car I wouldn't ever dream of having a FWD one. I'd be bored, and as great as the hatches you've mentioned are I know I'd always be having more fun getting the tail sliding and moving the balance around. Even if I was ultimately slower. One of those fun cars I've ever tracked was an S2000 on mixed tyres at Anglesey. An engine that good is born for the track, and given a Stook is twitchy enough anyway it was such a handful but in a really positive, fun way. If you can get one in budget, then I wouldn't look any further at all. -
Not hugely surprised that the 453s are quieter than the 050As, Bridgestone have never really done quiet tyres. Are you sure wet 'grip' is better, and not wet 'feel'? I'd be surprised if it was tbh, the 050A are excellent in the moist. When you say you're not comparing old vs new, do you mean that the 050As you've just taken off were reasonably new too? Good to see someone else getting interested in this!

Now there's a name from the past! I suspect she's probably living on Mumsnet these days, where they're more tolerant of her constant infuriatingly obvious questions. Just checked, she was active on here just before Xmas apparently. Not posted since June though.

One final meal, what is it, where are you eating it and who are you eating it with?

Click the AT link, use the Phonesafe number on there Although prob best wait until the morning now!

What's your earliest memory? If you could resurrect one famous person from history, who would it be and why?

Front is a bit of a mess, at least in that colour. Looked nicer in the red in the early pics! Backend looks like a Maser GT, no bad thing at all. Just needs to drive well now. Knowing Alfa, what could possibly go wrong...? New C-Class looks dreadful, all blobby and saggy. F80 looks okay, but it's not exactly the most exciting car to look at either.

When was the last alignment done? Should be every year max, more often if the roads you drive on aren't of the greatest quality. If the alignment brought the wheels back in spec, I wouldn't think anymore of it.

See, I know it's wrong but I actually prefer a (decently mastered!) digital track to a vinyl one these days. I suspect it's because that's what I grew up with, in the age of CD, that my ears now just prefer the digital. I almost hate myself for admitting that.

Have you actually read the thread and the idea behind it, or did you just read the title and make a huge assumption? I'm going with the latter.

You don't even need the roof up if it's raining, just stay above 40mph Best drives I've ever had have been in the snow with the roof down, and the heater on max.

Over 30 hours of gameplay isn't what I'd call short, not on a modern action game. RPGs always have silly numbers of hours, especially the modern Bethesda games with the radiant quests. CoD is short.

All roadsters leak eventually  Well yeah, but that's like saying that all coupes rot away eventually. Unless you're owning the car for the next 30 years, I can't see it being an issue. If you want a ragtop, get a ragtop. If you're not fussed, buy the better car in terms of price, condition, spec etc.
-
What machine do you have? If on a rotary, the usual caveats apply! Personally I'm a huge fan of the Scholl stuff, and the S17+ is pretty much my go-to polish of choice. Sometimes I follow it up with some S30+ too, although if you've only got fine swirls you may find that's enough alone. As for pad choice, I like the Lake Country pads as they're versatile but offer the feedback you'd want. You'd only want the orange and red pads, really. It's very much a personal choice though, there's no wrong or right answer. Truth is I'll use different polishes depending on what car I'm working on (for example, on the 182 the paint is as hard as nails so I had to use something incredibly aggressive just to make a mark!), but for the Zed the stuff I've mentioned will be fine.

Short?! It's bloody massive! I reckon I got about 25 hours out of it, and only got 70% completion.

Been watching that on Twitch, looks like a fun game. Now if only they did an offline mode, I'd probably be all over that. I almost long for the days before the internet was popular, when designers actually had to make the effort to put in an excellent single player mode too.

Just finished ROTTR tonight. What an utterly brilliant game! So much to it, perfect difficulty balance, stunning graphics, great story... Honest, I think I may love these new TR games as much as anything else I play in modern times. I really can't fault them at all. If you've got a PC or Xbone, you won't be disappointed with this at all. PS4 owners, grab this as soon as it comes out! I also may or may not have bought Pokemon Yellow from eBay to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of Red/Blue

Zeus, when was the last time you were truly happy, and why?

I actually get the TF badge if it was on a car that was in the movie, so a Camaro would pull it off easily. Anything else though, nope.

Ignoring the chavtastic Transformers sticker and the ridiculous number plate, that's bloody lovely.

Yes, if you bothered to search. You use 95 if you want. Then watch no-one here give two hoots when you come back with a broken engine.

So good, I said it twice! Thanks for the heads up

I've had lots of hot hatches Polo g40 Pug gti6 x2 Pug 306 rallye Leon cupra r Ibiza cupra r 172 cup Meg r26 So I think im looking for something a bit more grown up now . Although I have had some really good times in my hot hatches but all the new stuff just shouts chav I think No, I meant use the hatch as your daily then use the Caterham as your fun, never done before car!
-
Nah, never going to happen. Even if we had, y'know, photographic evidence of cemtimes going pop after using 95, someone will still call BS. I mean, what are we thinking! The entire knowledge of owners and tuners over the course of nearly 12 years, what do we know?!

Companies do pay the correct amount of tax. If the rules are stupid then blame the law makers, not the companies. It's like me asking you if you'd like to legally pay less tax, no-one in their right mind would say no.
