Because most people refer to any aftermarket suspension as coilovers. As stock, the 350/370 run separate dampers and springs at the rear which 99% of aftermarket solutions copy, hence they're not true coilovers. This is why I'm picky over stuff like this: It's not (just!) being pedantic, it's ultimately misleading and leads to confusion. It's like saying that when you have a puncture by the side of the road you get the jack out and change the tyre, when actually what you do is change the wheel. I don't care if most people know what you mean, it's still wrong!

Early ones (i.e. not the LCI ones) handle like garbage as the suspension is dreadful. Unless you enjoy trying not to kill yourself on every single trip, I wouldn't bother. I consider myself a reasonably capable driver, but the two I drove were just spiteful. That said, the newer ones are supposed to be significantly better. And even then, I'd still buy a 235i/240i over any M4 as they're just so much more fun to drive.

Go for the 4 all round, they’re better than the old MPSS any way You could put 4S on the back if you really wanted, but that would be no different than putting Bridgestones on the front and Pirelli on the rear in terms of running very different tyres. Alternatively you could just run different sizes f+r to allow for the 4S, which may actually be the better choice.

There's pointing and then there's pointing... put it this way, if it's never had an alignment then I'd be absolutely amazed if it's within spec, especially after lowering. You may not feel like it's off, but you'll be amazed how much better it can feel when it's spot-on.

Never had an alignment??!! Jeez, that’s shocking: Should be done annually at the minimum. Really you want want to go to someone who can tailor the setup for you personally, but at this point even going back to OEM so that the wheels are at least pointing in the same direction would be a start.

You're going to be spending an average of 10 hours a week in the car, so that’s 500+ hours per year: Trust me, you really want to make sure they’re comfy before you buy! DT in Wrexham might be a bit closer, find a hotel and enjoy the Welsh roads over a weekend? I definitely wouldn’t buy before trying, too much of a risk if it’s not comfy or just as bad, not grippy.

Tbh drifting setups aren’t my specialty, but if you’ve never had a decent alignment done then even a generic ‘fast road’ setup can’t hurt. 30mm is a fair drop, you must be borderline on OEM adjustment?

Take a visit to GSM Performance and try as many seats as possible, even if it’s a bit of a trek it’s going to be worth it long term. Try not to get fixated on a particular brand or seat beforehand though, an open mind will massively help you here. Being that tall tall is likely going to need some very low rails, or even a custom fab job. Not difficult to do, if you fancy a go yourself.

Buckets and harnesses will give you a significant control upgrade, as you’ll be able to feel what the car is doing much easier than in a regular seat, so that’s definitely something I’d be looking at if I were you. Plenty of options out there Also it’s worth getting a decent geo done too, although you’ll have to compromise between a road and a drift setup to an extent. Get the basics done right first

Plenty of drifters yes, but how many drifting threads do we have? I can’t remember a single specific one in the last few months (I’m sure there has been a couple though!), so it’s not like we’re overrun with drifting threads that need a home. The Motorsport section is for stuff like that anyway, so there’s already a home really

Ironically probably due to not selling many copies, which will now decrease given the main USP of their biggest issue of the year is now redundant.

What the hell have they done to it?? Far from the glorious mega road trips involving multiple cars shot in stunning locations, it’s now a collection of old reviews. Gone are the direct and revealing back to back comparison drives where a Clio can go head to head with a Lambo, and instead we get cars that weren’t even released this year. No more unattainable specials either, so we’ll never see a GT3 or a 488 Speciale (or whatever it’ll be called) or even a McLaren Senna in there. Nope, all gone in the name of saving money by not bothering to do anything outside of grab old reviews from previous mags. RIP Evo
