  1. Nah, the SR20 is more HAAAAAWWWWNNNNN but really nasally First vid I will admit has some decent sounding cars on, fair play. Second vid though, at 0'30" and 1'10" describe exactly how most of those cars sound when tuned, just horrendous! #imgettingtoooldforthissh*t
  2. The RX8 was a great car, and the engine was pretty decent too: the trouble was the marketing and after sales. People just expected to treat the engine like a regular 4 stroke, and weren't told that it was designed to chew through oil and need a rebuild every 20k miles. Off they went, never putting oil in it which exaggerated the tip wear, and then they moaned at Mazda when their cars broke. It's a beautiful handling car, the RX8, and the engine is something very different that's well worth experiencing if you're a keen driver.
  3. Same reason the Cosworth lumps were/are so popular: Massive tuning potential.
  4. See, I have no preference over type of engine, more specific engine. For example, I’d pick the noise of a carb’d up Pinto over the DE, but I’d choose the DE over a VTEC four banger. Youll struggle to ever beat the sound of the Aston V12 from their LMP1 entry a few years back, though. Utter perfection.
  5. They do sound like a fog horn! All volume and no tone. BLLLAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
  6. I've never ever heard a nice sounding 2JZ. Then again, I've never heard a nice sounding RB26DETT either: Maybe it's a Jap I6 thing? They may be tuneable, but by god do they sound like a foghorn when you strap a decent exhaust to them.
  7. For someone who allegedly loves cars, he sure is trying his best to get away from driving: First no engine, then it’ll be the autopilot, now he doesn’t even want to touch it... I’ve never worried about my cars getting nicked. If someone really wants it they’ll find a way to take it, so aside from locking it to deter the opportunist I do nothing else. Keys are left downstairs so if someone breaks in they can get them without physically threatening me or Jo. I’ve no interest in keyless entry stuff either, extra cost for zero benefit. Besides, that’s what insurance is for.
  8. Merc have lost the plot on the rear of their cars this styling cycle. C coupe, A coupe, both just as ugly as this one.
  9. Head in, arse in, legs in, shut door
  10. Why no Ethernet? So many ways to install it without it showing at all, and by far the most consistent solution.
  11. Find out who did the map, I've never seen a Bluefin used on these before (normally it's someone like Courtneys) so that would be an important thing with regards to how good the map may or may not be. Also, if it's not been done already then you MUST put S2 Exige/VXR220 size wheels on as that'll give you a much better selection of tyres, plus it'll cure the understeer too That makes more of a difference to the Elise chassis than anything else.
  12. I bet, that must’ve been horrendous under all that.
  13. And there was me thinking you Scots didn't mind the cold!
  14. The RainSport3s are pretty decent as wet trackday tyres, as they're cheap enough to not worry about but you'd want the track to be utterly drenched before really making use of them. They're just not aimed at anything as heavy as the Zeds, so they struggle to really cope with the car. But yeah, MPS4 are clearly the ones to go for, but I thought I'd at least give a few other options before launching into that
  15. Which ones? Uniroyal make many, many tyres. But really none of them are what I'd consider suitable for the 350: They're more meant for shopping trolley cars or lighter ones. Goodyear, Bridgestone or Michelin are where you should be spending your money, in Eagle F1, RE050A or Pilot Sport 4 guises
  16. Everything. There’s not much left that looks good value or reasonable. Biggest culprits right now are anything with an F or P badge on the front. 360s and 964s are just really silly considering what they are, especially the former if it happens to have a stick between the seats.
  17. There was some really cool stuff there that day, I haven’t seen the video in full but is the pink Jag on there?
  18. MY GOD HOW DARE YOU CRITICISE MY WING OH I’M SO ANNOYED BY YOU SHARING YOUR OPINION Actually, I’d like to point out something rarer than an orange 6er with a wing: It’s a BMW indicating!
  19. Most do hate my wing, but that’s okay by me. I don’t get whingy and defensive when it’s pointed out, do I? The RB kits are dreadful things: The modern day Veilside, but not half as tasteful. History will prove me right, but as long as you’re happy that’s all that matters. By the way, not sure if I ever told you but after seeing your car at Coventry I was massively impressed by the work you’d put into it.
  20. You must be busy then! Definitely, must sort something out.
  21. Excellent post, spot on Kieran. Great advice, and good to see someone who is prepared to take J17 all the way and call them out on their (alleged ) shady practices.
  22. And to be a flake I’m going to have to pull out of this now I’m afraid, sorry @andybp
  23. Depends on the effort you want to go to, really. There’s nothing there that’s horrendous like a Rocket Bunny or anything, so I’d give it a go as it is.
