Following my Beetle ad the other week I foolishly walked down memory lane my old Beetles that I loved so much and popped a few pics up - well decided it would make a good thread! So starting with Colin's fab old pics here- come on folks dig out your fave old car pics and post up - yes we all have dodgey haircuts but what the hell - its just a bit of fun. My parents had a Triumph Dolomite which went very well and then bought the sprint in yellow with a black vinal roof and boy did that go. My mum used to get in the slow lane and undertake people as the lights changed to green, sooo funny. Snap! Dug out some old 35mm pics (or might have been taken on box brownie ) - and includes one of the yellow Dolly Sprint I had at one time - a quick 2lt car in its day - me using it at a grass Autotest and had it on two wheels several times handbraking it round the cones The other pic is of my first Golf GTi (a Mk1 4-speed taken on MOD land near Aldershot) and a standard spec Singer Chamiois Sport at a Sprint at Goodwood and a Trial at some farm in Surrey. Used to tow that on an 'A'-frame behind a later GTi so I could compete in both cars Pics also also show the Beetles I had. The little one of me standing next to my very first one - a 1956 oval with a 1600 porsche engine rescued from a breakers and used for rallycross before I bought it. (Yes, I had hair then at 20 ) I then then got a 1957 Dub and dumped the 1200 engine for a 1500 one, but had it fairly heavily modified including twin Minnow-Fish twin carbs and very loud exhaust that I used in trials, autotests, and events that were the pre-runner of rally stages but then without navigators, crash-hats and rules........ The other pics are me navigating in the Moskvich at stages event in the NE (that car/driver had previously taken part in a RAC rally of GB and I got roped into the 'works' servicing team by a friend). The bottom pic is on a Welsh rally event - a Ford 1600E that had just had TJ fuel injection fitted (one of the first such installtions in the UK - and it was quick - when it held together!). Always remember after we finished that event in the early hours we got back from the Brecon area to Central London in about 2 hours - that was when there where no speed limits on the motorways and we crusied the M4 at 130mph+ So there you go Stan - we all have history that looking back does bring some great memories back Thanks again Colin they are ace - sure I have seen some of those pics in old copies of VW Motoring magazine?

Good on ya mate - get it back on the road and post some pics up please? A lot of aircooled heads on this site

Colin you are just the club hero mate - you have some great pictures there! Some of my fave cars and a 1500 Bug engine - the best they ever built eh! Glad you posted those up - in fact I think its a shame they are under this thread - think we need a more meaningful thread title so everyone can see. Thanks for those pictures and taking the time to show us these - funny how old cars bring back so many memories - yet they were far cruder than the tin boxes we have today yet they had character which I think cars today have lost in their plastic encrusted interiors ! Love the mustache in the last picture!

Congratulations Jayski Well dont matey

Its mainly motorway driving so they are not getting flogged mind you their first outing was the Hoon last year! I worry more about the front bumper its spotty beyond belief - just past the 45400 miles mark now !

Just had my service at Lockwood and Greenwood today. I asked them to check out the front brakes/bearings on the Zed as I have been getting a lot of noise at certain speeds? Thinking something was either binding or wearing turns out its the Falkens? Front has got 5mm tread rears are on 3.5mm - this is after 12 months and about 15000 miles on btw. They swapped the wheels over with some doner ones they have in stock with the factory Bridgstones and the noise was substancially reduced. So if you are worried that your Zed is getting noisey at certain speeds - with me it was between 25-30 and 50 - 60 mph - it may be down to the tyres? Just to let you know otherwise I love the Falkens over factory any day

Too late - good cars are hard to find as you know ! Still think he should try an Austin A35 , easy to work on and fun to drive -small engine but then they weigh as much as biscuit tin!
-
You know you want to - looks its almost a perfect colour match!!
-

Btw - its going to a very good home - cant say who yet but I think you will be surprised. Hopefully we will get an update in months to come as to progress Thanks folks for taking an interest.

I'm sorry did I read this correctly? Your talking about Wiper Blades ? Not the wiper arms? I get Bosch ones up the road from car shop for £6 each? Only ever use Bosch? the wing is on the Wiper arm so dont even need to get those type or wipers!

Well considering how much most people dont like Crossfires - this is a hell of a long post! To go slightly off centre - has anyone ever driven or have a Dodge Nitro or Jeep Patriot (Hate that name! ) but cool looking 4x4
-
~Hello to the forum Sorry but I have to do it! JDM's are cool - what extras does yours have (~if any?) Toll card reader? Jap Sat Nav?
-
What is it with Nissan dealers they all do that - have shed loads of space but fill it up with Micras and Navara stock!
-
Thanks for the pictures and letting us all know. Even though some of us dont like its lardy weirdness (me included) we still want to see one for ourselves
-
Ouch - bad luck Chris! On the positive side why not make this an excuse to Mod? Get some MASSIVE vinyl graphics to put on your doors - to cover it? What about a Ren and Stimpy graphic or one of the 'New Action Log' Ads' or a 350Z-UK.COM?
-
Fiat have probably sussed the rust issue - unlike Alfa where you still see Brand new Alfas with rusting exhaust boxes - poor in this day and age! I guess the Fiat is quick and light on its feet - but why are they all yellow?
-
Not worth it - by the time it reaches the first corner something will fall off it and the tyres will be ripped to shreds by the rust!
-
Hey I have worse pics trust me!! No Ashes to Ashes stuff here it was real first time round! Yeah I must have been abour 18 around the time this pic was taken mid 80's - Hey Vitesse looks a beast! Get that picture posted up mate - nothing to worry about! All part of the fun!
