  1. Chris that looks fab. I saw the side trims in Wales and was very impressed - even the right colour orange thread! Trouble with leather is the cost - its still £100 for a full hide even today at trade prices. It was £100 years ago when I worked as a trimmer so your really paying that up front before the labour cost - these jobs are very labour intensive and your very dependant on the persons skill to do this well. Jap interiors you know the fit is down to the latest mm (unlike Fiat or Renault!) so tolerences are very fine. He has done a spot on job I think pig leather may be the best to use but not sure of availablity its used mainly for fashion wear not car interiors as its very thin hence not as durable as the cow hide you have there Chris? Keep us posted. I am tempted to retrim mine but I do like it as it at the mo until it gets scratched to the point of annoyance! Cheaper alternatives (that are thin) look for Leather for book binding and Rexine (which is very thin) http://www.fredaldous.co.uk/shop-online ... -cloth.htm http://www.fjratchford.co.uk/SHADES.ASP?PRODUCT_ID=34
  2. I am perfectly happy with my long thin twangy rod no need for anything small and fat
  3. its the flux capacitor activation switch! 3000 quid option in the 60's was quite expensive but the smart people never fitted them .... they waited until 1983 when prices were down to 40 quid! Today they travel back to the 60's trying to get a refund back from Datsun complaining that it did not work!!!!
  4. wow that's really good -very stealth! re: Just buy a small tin of DumDum compound - (its like a tar putty) you just need a small amount roll it into a ball size of a marble then just push it into the hole area that you drilled -it will seal the gap - no need to remove your fixings then and it will keep the water etc out. http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp? ... nd%20(400g)
  5. Yup life is full of ...if only I had'nt sold that...
  6. Spotted this in a carpark today Targa top version I understand Mr Mac had one of these ere vehicles at some point?
  7. Nice one seems to look ok - see to all those people who say Zed roadsters are impractical Well done and a nice pic guide , where do you have to drill holes? Into the rear bumper subframe?
  8. Blimey matey thats news ! Hope things work out for you - shame about your Zed I know you really like it. Good luck and keep in touch , the forum is also accessible in Cyprus btw!
  9. Thats it Lexx thanks - was having trouble wiv ma google today! I think it look ace pocket rocket! Wont be long before the Japs are turbo charging them etc etc etc
  10. Hi just wondered anyone know this company? Protechnical Ltd Nailsea in Bristol - they are a Jap car importer ? Any comments good/bad?
  11. I think we all agree if the scumbags who sit at home claiming for all they can , watching their new flat screen tellies etc etc and actually working for a living like the rest of us there would be little need to get workers from abroad to fill the jobs. I also agree that companies relentless search for cheaper labour and materials will eventually lead to the downfall of the country in more than one way. Think of all the skills that have gone, one day we will end up being China's workhorse you never know! Bottom line get the scroats off their ars@s and working ,get some pride back into the jobs , treat people with respect in the street and at work then things will change around - but as you say if the rot starts at the top with MP's what chance do we have? Emperor Ming for PM!
  12. Looks good but yes proper camera please Uncle Andy Dont get it dirty now will you?
  13. Well each to their own folks just thought it looked a bit odd but strangley works as a small city car..... then again I am attracted to weird small cars are'nt I!
  14. Well I like Toyota build quality but they really have not made anything that is interesting - and what have they dont to the new Avensis - I mean the old one was boring but rock solid (we had one once) but the new one looks like its a cross between a volvo and mitsubishi of some sort! To be fair I dont mind the IQ - I dont like the Aygo but its just so weird looking it works - then again I love the Nissan Cube!
  15. Oh is it that time of year again? Emperor Ming for PM! I agree we should change the benefits system and we should bring back some more discipline (sounding like my dad now!) Everybody knows the system is not working but no one has the b@lls to do something about it! On another note if it was'nt for the Eastern Europeans or anyone else for that matter doing unwanted low paid jobs who will do them? I've always got excellent service from these people working long hours and with no attitude just friendly service even though they have probably been there over 14 hours! Not all of them are good you alwaysget rotten apples everywhere. Lets not start generalising here - not everyone is the same and not everyone is after money for nothing but yes I agree the ones that are need to have their attitude realigned shall we say! Unfortunately one word sums all of this up in the UK - SELFISH! Thats all it is - you see it on the roads you see it in shops you see it at work -its about looking after yourself first! Thats the biggest problem, thats whats changed in our country over the last few years. No Government is prepared to change the laws to do something about it. I've been on the dole for a few months - I hated every minute of it - all I could think about was to find a job as soon as I could and I did! I got off my ar@e and I did it - but then my mindset is different to a lot of people now? sorry ranting now....
  16. My mate at work recently took delivery of this little chap! Little bit of info in case you are considering something like this? He only needs a small car for short trips to work and settled on this after his 5 year old Astra coupe blew up its engine -(2.2 petrol engine - Avoid!) The IQ has a 1 litre engine (just under I think)- 5 gears - most of the time 3rd is more than enough. It can turn in its own body length and is pretty swift - which surprised me when he took me for a run in it! Its pretty well screwed together as Toyota stuff is. Enough headroom for someone with a top hat. Tax exempt and he thinks it will average 50mpg no matter the drive. Sod all luggage space in the back - my MR2 roadster had 500% more!! Its really a 3 passenger car plus luggage - the rear seats fold down as required. Its odd looking as its as tall and wide as a Toyota Verso or Corrola but sideways it sooooo short! They actually look great in white but there is a 3 month waiting list so he got a black one instead which also looks cool! You get a tin of foam in case of a flat . Compared to a Smart car I think it piddles on them! Its crying out for a custom car make over is'nt it!! (although someone has already customised one - cant find it online though? yellow with huge arches! ) Interior colours - unusual but seem to work. Bit Flash gordon - no exterior radio just a slot for CD's on the dash somewhere! You could probably fit a kebab down the back luggage area! The engine I am told is somewhere in here?
  17. Stew I will turn up in the van - I can cut a hatch in one of the side panels and I can cook some burgers and sausages for everyone on my deluxe 3 burner camping stove! I'll even wear a grease covered pinny for that authentic look and not shave for 4 days? What do you think?
  18. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me !! hehhe he he - muppets!! Almost as Bad as the AA recommending repairing the sills of a jag in the 70's with chicken wire and filler paste! (I have the repair manual to prove it!)
  19. Best think I did was change from the standard killer Bridgestones to Falcons - excellent tyres - everyone says they dontlast - they are too soft but I've done 10K on mine now and they are only down 1 mm - not bad (well its motorway driving mostly) but they are a spot on tyre - go for it. Camskill I got mine or even try Falken tyres direct?
  20. No need just replace the batteries. Its wise to switch between keys that way you get even wear from the batteries and units. so use each for 6 months each kinda thing?
  21. Ho that looks ace - get some more pics up from a camera please
  22. to the forum Like a lot of high milers on the forum I do 700 miles per week in mine - and its perfect. The Softtop is actually quieter than the coupe (my other half has a coupe) its an excellent cruiser - we did 690 miles in 1 day once and we both felt fine - speaks volumes for the seats and the general well planted stance it has. Suspension is firm but not boneshaking think they have the balance just right Would'nt change it for anything else
  23. Nice one Jay - handy to know - this is the kind of easy photo step by step guide that simpletons like me love But get a decent camera or stop using your phone - he he he he !
  24. Sorry to hear you are finally biting the bullet and selling it Greg - I know you've been taking care of it for a while. It is still my fave Zed colour! (BTW you owe me Copywright money from the Donut meet pics!) If we could we would snap that off you - its a pristine example - some lucky rascal is going to get a super motor there - best of luck with it mate PS Maybe Rick can buy it for Karen - they could be a double Interlagos Zed family!
