  1. I know a few of you out there have these beemers so I was after a little advice? I'm torn between the M135i or M140i. Clearly the 140 is better but its also more expensive. I put about 15K miles on every year and only change the car every 3 years on average so its all about the initial price and depreciation combined (isn't it always!). As a more minor point I quite like the grey but not with a red leather. This one has come up but do you think it's a little pricey for its age and miles? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201711291684920?transmission=Manual&advertising-location=at_cars&colour=Grey&radius=100&sort=sponsored&model=1 SERIES&onesearchad=Used&postcode=ca71hb&price-from=500&aggregatedTrim=M135i&make=BMW&page=1 For example these ones have the less-keen-on red leather but lower mileage and a similar price: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201712142048396?transmission=Manual&advertising-location=at_cars&colour=Grey&radius=100&sort=sponsored&model=1 SERIES&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&postcode=ca71hb&price-from=500&aggregatedTrim=M135i&make=BMW&page=1 And then the black/red combo in a 140: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201711241527954?sort=sponsored&advertising-location=at_cars&model=1 SERIES&price-from=500&radius=100&onesearchad=Used&postcode=ca71hb&make=BMW&aggregatedTrim=M140i&transmission=Manual&page=1 Any advice gratefully received as I'm incapable of deciding!
  2. Don't think it has tyres, just a layer of black paint applied to the rims
  3. "ONLY DRIVEN IN THE DRY " Sorry but that is physically impossible. Looks nice though.
  4. The splines on your long one don't look brilliant either
  5. Be grateful you still had a perfect Thrust Angle
  6. You are right. A is four matches and you have only one weigh left. My method leaves you with 2 matches but you don't know which is the dodgy one. Damn.
  7. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=&t=1717877 The difficult bit is that you don't know if it will be lighter or heavier Split into 3 lots of 4 matches (A), (B), (C) Put (A) on left, (B) on right. If A=B then discard B. If A<>B put B to one side and replace with C. If A=C you know the different match is in B. If A<>C you know the different match is in A. You also know if it is heavier or lighter based on the difference in weights you saw (you did write them down didn't you? ) Assuming the different match is heavier, now you have 4 matches and can split 2 on each side, pick the heavy side ans split that into 2 and voila. Full disclosure: I didn't read the rest of the thread but it did take me a few minutes to work it out!
  8. I have to disagree Cheapest is only the best until something goes wrong. Dented in the post, missing a bolt, whatever, Not saying that Torqen isn't the cheapest, they may well be, but service really matters on the odd occasion where something goes wrong and you need a seller with a good rep that will back you up.
  9. Sincere condolences. The world has a way of lulling you for years then crashing out around your ears. Stay strong but allow yourself to cry when you need to. Everyone who has read your post will be sobered, will take that little bit of extra care today, and will thinking of you and your friends.
  10. Nah, Lincoln is in the Midlands - the Limbo Land. The weather simply isn't bad enough there to call it 'North', they get sunshine for goodness' sake!
  11. I guess anything will fit with enough effort. It will look like a pineapple gun but it won't do any harm
  12. Yes, they are bloody loud.
  13. Let;'s tweak those requirements a tiny bit ... http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/chevrolet/corvette/215700
  14. Lots of work and looking good but stretched tyres ?
  15. I did at least manage to keep it in a straight line with some serious steering wheel action. What can you do? Either listen to the ABS boinging away to no effect or take your foot off the brake and try to steer two tons round a corner on a sheet of ice. I chose a straight line on the grounds that there is more protection for me if I hit a wall straight on. Thankfully I stopped in time. I also got praise from the other half instead of the usual squeak or 'slow down' comment, which was a bonus
  16. Every day is a school day, as the saying goes. So what car related fun facts have I learnt this week? * 4WD cars are great fun in the snow, but even 4WD can't save you downhill, on ice * Maybe I should have called the thread 'Bum-clenching moment of the week'
  17. Fair enough Currently you car is worth peanuts. Add 2k and you may get 3-5K depending on condition etc. Certainly you should get 3K on a chop-in. Its a horrible position to be in so maybe fix it and keep it a few more years? Good luck!
  18. You could buy from an unknown on ebay touting a box that may or mat not have done the miles they say. Or you could buy from Alex, who is well established, respected and trustworthy, knows masses about Zeds, wont tell you any fibs about the past of the box and would no doubt help you if you got into difficulties. You take a risk to save a few bucks, or you play safe ... Ps, I'm not related to Alex , but I've been on this forum for quite a while now.
  19. Good God man, never mind the child seat, your steering wheel is on the wrong side!
  20. Hmm. I've heard this is common. The way they work and the DAB system involves some caching of the data. I don't know if some are better than others.
  21. Ouch, not cheap. When you can get a decent DAB radio for under £40 now, these USB thingies are pricey! Please do let us know how it works, I'm in the market for Xmas so am very interested in a review
  22. if you won't go out when it's cold - Southerner If you wear a coat and go out when it's cold - Midlands If you don't wear a coat and always go out when it's cold - Northern If you can't go out when it's cold - Scotland
  23. I don't have kids. I wonder if all the tissues I've used in my life add up to a tree.
