Hey, Im currently trying to find a cheap ass car to replace my zed with, and im looking around the £1.5k mark There seem to be a few diesels available at that price range, but i've never looked at/driven a diesel before - what sort of things do i need to check with the engine? Any hints are welcome!

Is it safe to syphon petrol from another car and put it in the zed?? My mate is trading in his 99' Merc CLK tomorrow and he has 3/4 a tank of petrol in it... he has offered me the fuel if i want to syphon it off...!! Normally i wouldnt, but thats like £50 nowadays...! Please let me know asap!
