Nice looking Zed - can I ask why you changed the gaskets on your rocker cover? Was it just for general maintenance?

If your anywhere near me, im usually free weekends i can come round and give you a hand. Make sure you get all the accessories for your car aswell, i.e. the headunit surrounds, any additional cables you may need to by-pass the amp if you have bose, steering controls etc. I'm in Cheshire so quite a way from you but thanks for the offer. From looking at the guides I think I should be ok to fit it myself - just have to buy all the parts as recommended. The console is easy to remove - only takes 10 minutes. It's just the splicing of wires that's a bit more daunting but with lots of flash cards I'm sure I can fathom it. If not then I'll go to an expert with my tail between my legs - but I'm already more than accustomed to looking like an idiot. The Halfords website is more expensive than in-store. The same Alpine stereo is online for £260 or in store for £130!

It's a gamble, police don't enforce tax anymore - it's normally local council. However if you go through an ANPR you could get a fine in the post for driving without tax or a traffic cop could feel obliged to stop you if you ping up in one of their cars. Sounds lose/lose to me...

If you're not an audiophile does it really matter which stereo you get? I'm planning to use the Bose amp and speakers and just change out my knackered Bose headunit. Will be listening to MP3's a vast majority of the time. Am I right in thinking that at the bottom end of the market (£120 - £130) it doesn't make much difference which headunit I choose as they're all about as basic as each other? Thanks in advance.

I've done trackdays on 452's and their grip is better than my ability! And they last 20,000k. Don't see how I would benefit from spending sooo much more personally.

Only got a picture when I'm on the move, so probably not the best. . . I scuffed...I mean my missus scuffed the wheels up pretty bad so I had them resprayed darker. I find them brilliant wheels, fit the wheel arch perfectly without spacers and are nice and wide (275), so give a nice aggresive stance from the rear. as i said I know I know, all credit where it's due. It's a pretty impressive memory actually

How much weight would they save? And how are they to live with, are they comparable to glass? I went on a track day recently, and someone there had an older audi S6. He'd removed the triple glazed glass on his car and saved nearly 200kg!!!

Interesting I've had a think and these are my thoughts. Part of the issue is the logistics. It would be ideal for this event to take place in a vacuum to prevent air resistance etc, so we need to do this in space. At least doing this we wouldn't need to consider the curvature of the earth or planning permission. Presuming the first door moves at 5mph (reasonably quick for a lift door, 5mph is 2.25 metres per second) the second would move at 10mph, the 3rd at 15mph etc. For the final door to move at the speed of light (671,000,000mph), and assuming the lift doors are 1 inch thick (like mine at work) you would need 134,200,000 lift doors. The width of this contraption would be over 2000 miles, more than half the circumference of the world. The engineering feat required is beyond even British Leyland when they were in their prime. I know the theory of relativity is in question at the moment due to some neutrinos, but if we belive it to be true for arguments sake then mass is relative to energy. The faster something travels the more mass it has. To make something travel at light speed, you would need infinate energy, and due to them being linked the 'something' would have infinate mass. To travel faster than the speed of light, you would need more than infinate energy, which we dont have. We don't even have infinate energy in the universe, so it will never happen unless Einstein is wrong. Hope this helps, even though it's probably wrong

Dark grey is my favorite, saw one done and it looked really good. Maybe a bit boring though. +1 on not getting a stock colour, like Sarnie said you could easily sell yours and buy a black one for about £8000. The difference would be probably cheaper that the cost of respray. That purple one looks

B of the Bang in Manchester costing 1.4m. Was going to be painted, but it rusted so they left it. Looked impressive, then some of the spikes fell off, so it was surrounded with safety barriers for about a year, which looked attractive. It was then taken down. It's now in storage, and they will put it back up when they can secure 2-3m - which they'll need to ensure more spikes don't fall off. Wonder what would happen if they put it to public vote?

Pipercross pop-charger - pointless. No noise difference and likely caused a loss in power. Back to stock. K1 exhaust - looked cheap (IMO), WAAAAAY too loud and exageratted every single rattle in the car. Back to stock. ACT 6-puck sprung clutch - great clutch but a beeatch to drive. Would love to go back to stock / exedy but have an ACT pro-light flywheel as well, and they may not be compatible (issues on my350z). Reverting back would therefore cost a new clutch and flywheel +fitting, but will need doing if I ever want to sell the car. Powder coating plenum - looked ok, but is now flaking and looks worse than stock. Squiggly wire thing in engine bay - does nothing, cost a fortune and doesn't particularly look good. When I installed it, i knackered the thread on one of the bolts on the butterfly valve so can't get it off now. When I remove it, it will be up for sale, so probably not doing any favours slagging it off Carbon engine cover and radiator cover thing - no point as it's under a sheet of metal 99.99% of the time. Engine damper - no noticeable difference after installation. The only mods I've done that I'm impressed with are visual ones because that's tailored to my specific taste (includes lowering the car to give a better stance). Maybe 60% of the mods I've done are a complete waste of time and money for me. I'd have been half way to fitting a supercharger if I'd saved the money, although I'd probably have regretted that too.
