  1. I would not be so quick to replace the alternator. While it is a wear item, I have never seen a Z use an alternator yet. The batteries though I find have an average life of about 40k miles or about 3.5 years when driven in mixed climates. Factory battery is quite inexpensive too. Assuming the battery is good, the next thing I would look at is a possible grounding issue, particularly to the alternator itself
  2. ideal front to back stagger needs to be kept between 1/2 inch and less than 1 inch to keep the VDC, traction control happy the most common size for 19's is 245/35/19 25.8", 275/35/19 26.6" though it ultimately depends on your wheels, goals, etc. On my own car, I run 265/30/19, 285/30/19
  3. 0 problems with my shifter....took 25 minutes to install, 0 noise vs stock, and no extra stiffness. Mine is by Stillen. I've also done the NISMO one as well...a bit more money, but adjustable. Again, 0 problems noise is sometimes a result of the materials they use for the bottom shifter "cup" as well as plate alignment (it has to be spot on, otherwise the lever gets very notchy and buzzy). In terms of stiffness, there is only 1 thing that determines that...the tension to which you torque down the side carrier bolt. The tighter you make it, the more lever action is required. I simply followed factory torque specs and used a bit of blue thread lock to ensure it doesn't come loose.
  4. Tuning by who though. I cant find anyone in the midlands who tunes Zeds That I can't say unfortunately, but perhaps some of the midlands based members can give you some suggestions on who might offer such a service
  5. those are interesting looking.....a bit weird to be honest! But yes, you have spacers Even without spacers, with those offsets, it "might" still rub in the rear. Fender rolling would easily cure it. Fronts you'll be fine with. Every car is different when it comes to the question of "will it rub". All depends what the alignment specs were before hand, and whether the car has been lowered, by how much, etc etc
  6. Not really the case First and foremost, no car, whether its NA, or forced induction, wants or needs backpressure. A very, very common mistake that has exitisted for years and years. Backpressure is a clog...backpressure reduces velocity. The idea with exhaust design is velocity vs flow.
  7. +1 - I was down at an MLR rolling road on Sunday and 80% of the guys seem dissapointed with the results. They all base their expected output to be OEM figures plus whatever the mod manufacurer quotes, so say 305+10(intake)+10(decat) and then wonder why it comes in at little over 300BHP (with 24% fudge) rather than 325BHP. All you can realisitically do with a dyno is get a baseline and then run it again after each mod in similar conditions and see if its gone up. Never base it on OEM figures, they're a load of bull Absolutely true. Modding never works like this. While the OEM #'s can be pretty much on point (they usually are, or at least very close), it's never the case that the individual gains net a grand sum. In addition, the net change of a particular mod does not always show up as a change to the peak #'s
  8. don't waste your time with an SSV A spacer is the most cost effective way to achieve the gains. You also don't need to be concerned with "fancy" gaskets, and the like too - the spacer itself is what makes the gains, tuning helps it even further (and helps to smooth the dyno curve alot)
  9. that is insanely overpriced Its $1400 on your website too.... Do you mean the delivery costs? 1. we give discounts to club members 2. yes Price is $1690 delivered to London. Shipping costs might vary a bit depending on the exact location it is going to.
  10. the car should be far faster than a 13.6 - stock Z's have run quicker when launched properly with 472 crank hp, the car should easily be deep in the 12's at ~115 ish
  11. it is only for use with a manual transmission
  12. I agree - the show could be about moss and it would still be worth watching. The on air chemistry among them is terrific, and they are all intelligent, witty, and interesting
  13. why do they have to be automotive journalists? If the show sinks or swims, it's not going to be because the hosts were or were not "journalists" IMHO. There have been plenty of car related shows in the past that have been utter disasters (and not at all enjoyable), that had nothing but journalists involved. Passion IMHO is far more important than what school you went to. Hammond was/is a game show host essentially - and I think even hosted a dog show (pets, not women). I think he's easily as entertaining, and passionate, as Clarkson and May, who have more traditional car media experience. I personally am not a Foust fan as far as tv goes, but oh well - some show hopefully is better than none, and if its a total wash, thank god for youtube videos of the real show!
  14. All Z hoods are made of aluminum and the 07-08 fits all earlier models
  15. then the car has a leak someplace in the system, more than likely from one of the a/c hardlines. Bring the car to a trusted mechanic, or dealer, and have them inspect it. There is a dye they can put through the system that will reveal any leaks, so they can replace the faulty part.
  16. great choice on the porsche, stunning car to drive, albeit a rad "raw" in RS trim. We've been doing quite a bit with them lately as some local customers have a range of them (turbos, gt3 and rs's) try to email Jay - z1sales@z1auto.com
  17. I can't believe I didn't see this sooner! You sold the car!!!!!???!!!! Congrats to the new owner for sure...you've got yourself a great car with a terrific range of parts. Good luck on whatever you choose next Jay! Does Danny still at least have his you don't go through complete Z withdrawl?
  18. when you turn the a/c button from off to on, do you see the idle change? If yes, then the compressor is turning on and working, and that means there is refridgerant in the system as well. If not, then look to the compressor, and related solenoids, etc. If the idle does change, then perhaps have a look at the condensor, and make sure there is not something block the airflow
  19. Have you got one for the 06 bumper by any chance, Adam? not in stock, no...would have to order it for the 06 + cars we have the JP Aero Type S - also made of urethane, and fits great Great if you need to clear the roads of snow.... hehe...that's nothing On my car, I can only fit the top of my sneaker under the lip! Great for high speed runs though, so I've learned to drive carefully on "b" roads
  20. the Greddy and C West lips are only for 2003-2005 models, so keep that in mind (not sure what year the OP's car is)
  21. Have you got one for the 06 bumper by any chance, Adam? not in stock, no...would have to order it for the 06 + cars we have the JP Aero Type S - also made of urethane, and fits great
  22. I used to have one of these....loved the car!
  23. we have the genuine Veilside V1 in urethane in stock for 02-05 bumpers. Fitment is perfect, and being urethane, its very durable as well. The carbon ones always have had hit or miss fitment I find
  24. The stainless Fujitsubo has GIKEN markings on the rear box the titanium one has a Z on it. not all titanium ones had the Z on them, only the one that was at one time sold through Nissan Japan as a dealer option.
