of course you can - do an advanced road driving course, they will recommend you to take the line that gives the best visibility whether that be on the "wrong" side of the road or not.. watch a video of an advanced police driver (not on an emergency call) and you will see that they drive like this - even down a straight single carriageway they will often take a line in the middle of the road straddling the center dashed lines as long as its safe and you can see clearly (including any junctions that enter the road)!

well there are 2 different mechanisms for the retraction... which changed at some point in 04.. and yes the colours of the door skin are different - personally i have the ESR carbon fibre dash kit stuck on mine so nobody knows!

nothing wrong with driving on the other side of the road provided you can see clearly and you dont cross solid lines..
